wooooo Victory!

Bring on the next Team!

Gotta give the Preds props. They fought hard and stayed in every Game. Just had to rely too heavily on too few players.

Yep, grats to the Preds. They have a great future if they can add a little more firepower on offense.

Canucks did what they were supposed to, avoid the game 7 and take care of business. Now they can get some much needed rest and hope it goes to 7 in SJ/DET.

Regardless of SJ/DET going to 7 the game is scheduled for Saturday - so almost a week of rest. Good job Canucks, and good series by the Preds

I'm proud of the Preds. There were a ton of injuries to some key guys this season which forced a lot of youth to come up from the minors much earlier than anyone wanted. Hopefully getting this deep generated enough extra revenue to sign our big three and also provided some extra experience that will only help everyone next season.

Good luck Canucks!

*edit*
I will say this about the Preds, and it's something that I'm sure a lot of the Canadians and other big time hockey market fans may not be able to relate to... people are talking about the Preds here. In Nashville. In the heart of football country we're talking about hockey. And it's awesome. People who could not care less about hockey hopped on the bandwagon with excitement and even if only 10% of those fans stick around and buy a few tickets next year that's a huge boon to a small(er) market franchise like Nashville.

This playoff run could really do wonders for this franchise. Our ownership is a group of locals who got together to save the team from being bought out and moved. They have interest in the success of the team from both a business sense and a personal sense and have always said they intend to reinvest profits into the team. More playoff games = extra cash = extra reinvestment. More fans due to the extended playoff run = extra cash = extra reinvestment. Hopefully this means a bright future where we can take this run even further in the coming years.

Game 6 in the D! can't friggin wait.

A lot of people were saying after the first 3 games that it would be just like last year, Detroit would win in a blowout in game 4 to prevent a sweep, then lose in SJ.

Well, I was glad to see that game 4 was not an easy win. The wings had to fight tooth and nail to get a win, and that was good. It gave them insight into what has been going wrong all series. Week side, "late defenseman" has been working for SJ, and that hole needed to be plugged. This is probably why Huddler was benched in game 5, at least one goal in games 3 and 4 could be attributed to his defensive mistakes.

Despite Niemi's epic play, Detroit now has confidence that it can score when it wants to. Keep the sustained pressure, beat SJ's awesome possesion game (which was modeled after Detroit) with even better puck possession game. Despite being absolutely thrashed by SJ's A-game in the 2nd, I was surprised to see a resilient Detroit step up and throw it right back at them in the 3rd.

Franzen no longer gets to decide if he can play. The dude would say he is ok to play if he was in traction. Sorry mule, you're not dressing.

Get back to the roots: Lidstrom bullet from the blue line being deflected in by Holmstrom has been a staple in Detroit since most of the sharks were still playing little league. I was glad to see Detroit taking shots from distance, along with the up close net pressure. Now come at Niemi from sharp angles more and you've got all your offensive bases covered.

Home crowd is going to be fired up. Let's make it to 7!

Franzen is out. Modano is in. He's going to be pumped up, so hopefully he can bring some energy and do something special.

Damn, I hate these early games. Going to have to DVR the game tonight so I can watch the first two periods. Go Sharks!

If we can have a chance of forcing a game 7 whe Wings have to play the way they did in the 3rd period of game 5 the ENTIRE GAME. Come out the first minutes of the game, beat Sharks to the puck. Dig it out of the corners. Punish any Shark coming over the red line with the puck. Get under their skin for a change. Give Niemi a snow wash. But most importantly;

Clowe is out for the Sharks, they say it's the flu. Maybe Kronwallitis?

The Wings need some breaks. As much as they've been outplayed they're overdue to get a soft goal, a bounce off a defenseman's skate would be nice.

I love what I'm seeing out of Detroit right now.
Authoritative passing
Jumping into the plays
Getting to the corners and digging out the pucks
Looking like the 3rd period carried onto tonight.
