I don't see why people like the physics from Porsche Unleashed so much.
Was I the only one who hated how if you initiated a turn at anything more than 20mph your car would slide broadside as if on ice, pretty much until it slammed into something? I know I sure didn't like watching my car slam into a wall at 30mph because rubber apparently provides less friction than glass.

Pro:
great graphics
great audio
conrol is better than HP2
a real good feeling of speed
it is a lot of fun

Cons:
No Replays--I can live with this
No LAN support---I can't live with this!

what do you expect driving around in a 60ies porsche? handling like a mclaren f1? get the newest 911 turbo and upgrade it all the way if you don't like old-school porsches ;)

btw read in review that in nfsu there are only city-tracks at night and "wet" alias shiny roads.
the upgrade system isn't what it seems to be, cause every part has 3 upgrades so that in the end you will see people driving the same cars just in different colors (all cars maxed out).
so much for costumazing the way you want...

very true... only night tracks and the roads look "wet" and are very reflective.. .looks kinda gay if you ask me.. but it is an ok game... download the "demo" and check it out..
that is very true that eventually everyone will have the same maxed out car.. but i think that was a given.. would be hard to incorporate a mix of different upgrades and their various impacts on performance...

true that. don't know if they implemented it, but when somebody maxes out his car, does he have different options of let's say level-3 body-kit or is there only one level-3 body-kit?

just my 2 cents, if they would have like 10 different styles of level-3 body-kits for the same car-modell costumazing would be a matter of individual taste. (but as said, i'm just asuming that there is only one level 3 body-kit for each car. can anybody confirm or contradict this?)

yeah i played the demo, but as many others i was dissapointed of the fastnfurious/2fast2furious game-layout. that per se wouldn't be the ultimate evil, but the driving-physics left me very dissapointed. (...and i don't like nitro-stuff in a game:p)

EDIT GPL was the proof for me that i suck at die-hard simulations... :frown: stuff like nascar, cmr and gp4 are ok, but GPL killed me

I was addicted to this game at first but I think I was being driven by the EA Hype machine. As I sit back now and ponder, this game FVCKING BLOWS. First off, it's only been a year since HP2 was released. EA took the graphics engine from that and souped it up a little bit. The no damage modeling, while understandable since a lot of games dont' have them, is still sort of retarded considering how one of the biggest parts of the game is customization. Damage modeling with stock cars = who cares... when you bulid your own, you should have to take care of it. As for the customization... its a joke. I can choose between 4 sets of engine upgrades, each one with a variety of manufactors behind it, yet not only is the performance not effected any way at all but it doesn't look any different either.

The actual game... haha. I'm at 90/111 in underground mode now and i'm ready to shoot myself. This is the most frustrating game ever. In the early races, it was easy enough to make the computer hit a pole or something by driving aggressively. Now, you're going 150+ around every turn, and EA decides to put a random car always coming at you around every turn. Of course the computer AI knows this already so they've steered clear before the turn even comes. Also, no matter how perfect you drive a track, the computer will never be further then 3-4 seconds behind. I've gotten the CPU to crash dead on into a pole with literally 30 seconds left, and he's right behind me as the race ends.

Its a cool idea, one that rice boys like me enjoy, and it's fun seeing these cars and watching them get upgraded, but beyond that it's complete crap.

I haven't gotten that far (90/111) and I'd have to agree. Once you get over the nostalgia of customization, the game is pretty flat.

I've always maintained that damage modeling helps a good game stay good... it was my complaint when they released the demo...

I guess the only good part about the game is the overabundance of spectacular tracks and weather conditions right? I think I can navigate that stupid city better then I can navigate my own city streets now. I've certainly driven through the same thing more times then I care to count. I think once I unlock the last level 3 upgrades I'm going to stop. I can't take this anymore

U mean that city is the only map in the game ? I was thinking it'd move on after I "mastered" that after 30-40 races....

yes sir. If you're already annoyed at 30-40, I suggest you stop now. I didn't start getting pissed till 70, and at 90 I think i'm about to break my controller.

All I have to contribute is that the Hot Pursuit 2 demo sucks. They need to lock the camera behind the car so in chase cam you can "feel" the car slide.

oh yeah, I forgot. There's no replays in this game... In hot pursuit 2, they had a dumbed down replay where you couldn't change camera views. In Underground, they just removed it alltogether. I drive in first person mode, so the only time I ever see my car at all is when slow motion turns on when I'm in the air

I think that there are multiple level 3 upgrades.. i'm only on like level 1.. haven't had too much time to play it but there are multiple level 1 upgrades so i assume multiple level 3 upgrades.. so there is rume for some originality...

why not try the "unofficial demo" and see if you like it.

another thing that sucks is the fact that there is no in car view.. that and the no damage modelling are irritating..

i'm on 5/110 .. hahaa... but i'll get around to playing a bit more later.
