Going to be another stupid week (I mean, I'm up at 2am), so I'm getting this out early. How many 10-6 teams in the NFC won't make the playoffs?

I'm kinda upset that the Packers shut Aaron Rogers down before he could defeat the Lions and end their season on the last day of the season at home (as is tradition)

This week though...

I'm kinda upset that the Packers shut Aaron Rogers down

you're not the only one

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...violated-ir-rule-think-aaron-rodgers-released

Sources: Teams complain that Packers violated IR rule, think Aaron Rodgers should be released

Multiple teams complained to the NFL last week that the Packers violated the rules regarding players who are eligible to be placed on injured reserve -- and Green Bay should have to release quarterback Aaron Rodgers as a result, league sources told ESPN.

NFL rules stipulate that a player needs to have suffered a new injury that would sideline him at least six weeks to be placed on injured reserve and, if that is not the case, the team is obligated to release the player once he is healthy.

Rodgers played last Sunday against Carolina, came out of the game "sore" in the words of Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.

But Green Bay did not announce a decision about Rodgers' status until Tuesday, after the Packers had been eliminated from a potential postseason spot, when the quarterback was placed on IR.

Had the Falcons lost to the Buccaneers on Monday night, keeping alive Green Bay's playoff chances, it's possible Rodgers could have played Saturday night against the Vikings. But the Packers opted to shut him down, which teams complained was a violation of NFL rules.

It is not believed that Rodgers suffered any type of new injury last Sunday against Carolina. If Rodgers didn't suffer a new injury but was placed back on IR anyway, NFL rules stipulate that the Packers would have to release him -- which nobody expects to happen. It is why multiple teams were bothered last week and raised the issue. Teams wanted to know why the Packers were being granted immunity.

The NFL referred all inquiries about the situation to the Packers, who have declined comment.

But one source said Rogers wasn't going to be medically cleared to play in Green Bay's game, and the Packers knew he wasn't 100 percent.

Still, not gaining medical clearance and being placed on injured reserve are two different things -- which is what drew the ire of multiple teams around the league.

Rodgers was placed on IR and missed seven games after suffering a broken right collar bone in Green Bay's first game against Minnesota on Oct. 15. He was activated last week and returned for last Sunday's loss to the Panthers, throwing three touchdowns and three interceptions -- the first time he has been picked off that many times in a game since 2009.

I just read that...they are one of the 'special' franchises so they will get a slap on the wrist....

they wouldn't do it to a big player with any team

that's the problem with such drastic penalties, they never dare enforce them

I tend to agree with you. I'm curious why they decided to such a drastic penalty was required for that rule?

Bill's for for a 4th and 2 on the Pat's 12 and fail, Pats get the ball and Brady proceeds to throw a pick-6. Great job Buffalo is doing with mixing up coverage's and even though Brady has had ample time he's not finding open people. Buffalo 10, Pats 3

Refs trying to fix this game for the Patriots. Hey, zebras, you don't need to help. Brady is 27-3 against us!

Another controversial call that goes in the Pats favor, Taylor lobs a perfect fade to his TE who, (it appeared), caught it for a TD. Play was ruled a TD on the field, after another eternal review it gets overturned and Bills kick the FG. Game tied 13 all at half. Patriots look a bit flat after the emotional win at Pitt last week plus excellent game plan by Mcdermet has kept Brady off-balance the whole game.

Yea, after watching that replay I didn't see anything to overrule the call on the field. Was also amazed Clay dropped the previous ball that was a great throw by Taylor. Buffalo is playing with great energy, if the Pats don't step up they might find themselves looking at a L at home.

Woot! Saints in the playoffs!
Great, I like Brees getting another crack at it. Yet another debate is now raging all over the net about the TD call reversal on the Bills/Pats game. This time it looks like there was no clear evidence to overturn the call of TD on the field, of course this equates to the Pats "cheating" to the million of haters, they think Kraft is writing checks to the Ref's before the game. Yet another impressive start by the Niner's, Garappolo led them to a TD and a FG in the 1st 2 drives, is 8/11 passing, 4/5 on 3rd downs and 125 yds in the 1st Qtr. Some in the Boston area are openly wondering if the Pats should have moved on from Brady and Kept JG after the end of last season. Sounds nutty until you see just how well he has been playing in SF, his reads/throws are done lightning fast and he's making the vaunted Jaguar defense look lost today. Expect SF back in the playoff's next year.

you can be pissed off all you want at what the NFL rules say about what is a catch is. But that does not change the fact that the Bills only scored 3 points in the 2nd half. There is no conspiracy. the bills in general suck and even with 7 more points would have still lost the game

That personal foul called on that punt return just now was fucking retarded. What the hell is the Seahawks dude supposed to do, not tackle the guy?

I thought this one should have stood, I didn't see convincing evidence that it was not a catch, (as called on the field). Last week vs Pitt, it was obvious the ball was not secure as James hit the ground, as a Patriot fan I wish they gave it to him, I didn't think the Bills were going to hang with the Pats in the 2nd half anyway. Of course ESPN is going all-out with this acting like some sort of organized corruption is in play, funny how they don't see the "corruption" when Gronk was getting mugged week in/week out but anything for clicks I guess. I watched the entire 49er's/Jag's game as well, thought I'd never say this but Garappolo is looking BETTER than Brady lately. His read/react/throw time is insanely fast, then, (while running left), he chucks a submarine throw for a TD ala Aaron Rodgers. I was waiting for the Niner's to play a decent defense before deciding if it was him being that good or playing crappy teams, I can now honestly say he IS that good. Bad timing for the Pat's, if they had drafted him last year they could have hung onto him until Brady's done, but with this being his 4th year it was just not possible. He is now 7-0 as an NFL starter and I fully expect San Fran to earn a playoff spot next year, they have the QB they need, a shi*load of cap space and plenty of $$ and draft picks.
