If you're a contender in this uncapped year, it might not be a bad decision if you think he can give you the final piece.

Hey, don't laugh, while a lifelong Pats fan I 'll give props to Peyton as being the most accurate long -bomb thrower playing the game today, so if he got with the Colt's it would an opportunity to inflict some carnage on opposing DB's (assuming Randy wasn't bored and ran the way he's capable). Quite honestly I think he's still perfectly capable of doing that but since he almost always gets doubled offensive coordinators can't resist working the underneath routes that are inevitably open due to a safety helping out on Moss every play, end result is diva Randy gets bored and trouble ensues..

If Moss gets claimed by a team NOT the Patriots, he will only be there one season before resigning a new contract with New England.

If no one claims Moss, he'll come back to New England.

Moss and the Patriots organization like each other - it was just a money/contract issue. Moss now realizes the grass is not greener on the other side and the Patriots are his ideal team to finish his legacy. My bet is Moss will be willing to concede a lot less money for a new contract.

That and Brady/Belicheck are the only combo that can get him to behave.
yeah thats what it seems like to me. im sure there are teams out there that want to push for the playoffs, and don't mind putting up the dough for the rest of the season, BUT, now it seems like that would be completely ill-advised since he has already shown he does not give a shit. Vikes gave up stuff to get him, and he dicks around. If he wants to be back in NE, its not going to matter who picks him up. If he clears waivers Minny gets doubly screwed. They are on the hook for the rest of the salary this year, and then he is free to play wherever he wants getting ANOTHER (smaller) paycheck for the rest of the year.

Makes me wonder if there are any rules for this possible sabotage. Imagine coming up with a blockbuster trade to your rival, they give up picks for your superstar. Then he goes there and basically says, I don't want to practice, don't want to play, don't want to be in your city. Ruins the cap of your rival for the year (in a capped year). Steals their draft picks. Becomes a completely toxic asset to any other team so he can clear waivers back to original team. And even if a team is stubborn enough to keep him on the roster out of spite, he STILL becomes a free agent at the end of the year and can go back to the original team and collect his treason payday.

Reporter: But who will throw to Moss?

Mike: Moss.

Reporter: Excuse me?

Mike: For the kind of money we're paying him, he is going to play QB too. He couldn't be any worse than the excrement we have playing QB now.

Troy Smith looked solid this week....

I do wonder what would actually prevent the Patriots from doing this. It seems like a longshot, but what's really going to stop them from purposely trading Moss away only to have him tell every team that he won't play for them so he eventually makes it back to the Pats? Of course, they seem to be doing fine without him, and I don't think they actually want him back. But at this point they're probably pretty happy with the decision they made to trade him. And Minnesota, as usual, is left holding the short end of the stick.

1. If the team receiving the player can prove there was an agreement in place the team sending the player can be penalized. Situations like this happen every year whereby teams play the "roster spot" trick: They need a roster spot to activate/sign a player at a given position for a week because of injuries at that position. The team cuts a veteran player at a position of strength with a *wink* and a *nudge* that said veteran will be re-signed the following week. Of course, there's nothing forcing the team to re-sign the player or the player re-signing with the team. This happened this year when the Ravens (I think) released a veteran with a *wink*nudge* agreement they'd re-sign him the next week and he went and signed with the Jets. The Ravens were pissed that he signed elsewhere but could not do anything because they'd have to admit to the agreement, which is not allowed.

2. Any team trading for a player like Moss would get an assurance that he'd report and play before trading for him (well, except the Raiders in that Seymour trade).

3. If a player refused to report the team could void the trade.

4. If the player reported but refused to play or was just an absolute pain (insubordinate) he could be suspended w/o pay.

5. If the player was in the final year of his contract and his agent said an extension could be done but made no effort to do said extension, the club would be very careful in dealings with that agent in the future, hurting the agent's other clients. That would hurt the agent's ability to sign blue chippers.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...acted-alone-on-moss-has-lost-the-locker-room/

The latest reports by Jay Glazer are that Moss has not yet been waived. This was confirmed when Monday's waiver list came out and Moss was not on it.

Now PFT is reporting that Childress told the team that Moss was being waived without actually clearing the move with management. Speculation is that once management got wind of it they put the kibosh on the move, which is why Moss hasn't been waived yet. PFT also says Childress has "lost" the team.

Earlier in the day PFT was speculating that Childress, who likely will lose his job this year regardless of what happens with Moss, had crafted this scenario so that he won't get fired for incompetence (read: losing) but instead will 'part ways' with the team over philosophical differences.

I don't know if I believe that speculation because I don't think Childress is smart enough to come up with any sort of plan that remotely complex.

I'd say the odds that Childress gets shitcanned before/at the end of the season just increased significantly, unless he finds a way to win out.

listened to the full details of the story on the way home from the nfl network. apperantly chilly has full personnel control of the roster, and after moss lit his ass on fire about ignoring his suggestions for taking on the cheatriots, chilly announces for the first time in a team meeting this morning that moss was gone. rest of the front office hears about it through media sources as players start spreading the news and general panic and hilarity ensues, and of course moss isn't actually waived yet which means chilly may be the one headed out first after facing down back to back hall of famers.

oh, and if he does still get waived, for the love of god please someone other than NE claim him, don't really feel like facing him for the third time this year.

It's just so stupid and beyond the realm of comprehesible that Jerry Jones just might go for it! But I think Jerry is too busy trying to get Mike Vick from the eagles;)

He is too busy trying to convince all of us (and himself) that "Wade Phillips is the right person for the job." <big pause> "Uh, right now." I loved when he added that disclaimer to give him wiggle room to can him. :D

Maybe Al Davis will kiss and make up with Randy and bring him back to the silver and black.....

The way Moss was kissing and making up with Kraft during yesterday's game...I think he's more likely to go back to the Patriots (if they didn't have the last shot at him).

agreeing to trade a third round draft pick midseason then turning around and cutting the player you traded for is a quick way to negate the longevity of such a contract extension.

With their season circling the drain, "Chilly" realizes that he has to pretend like he has some balls in order to save his job, which is hanging by a thread. Therefore, after Randy's shenanigans yesterday, he is the perfect sacrificial lamb for "Chilly" showing how "tough" he is.

LOL, so true! Fire Chilly now, don't wait until the end of the season. I'm becoming increasingly convinced last year was a fluke.

Wait, I've got it! This whole Moss situation was simply a clever ruse intended to distract the citizens of this fair state as the Twins were getting swept in the playoffs by New York - AGAIN. I'd buy that...
