Most other sports are self regulating, but not football (oddly enough, since it's one of the more violent sports).Originally posted by: JackBurton
A sport is no fun unless you can say, "in your face b!tch" to the other team one way or another. 😉
<= In favor of end zone celebration. 🙂
Thinking of showboating after hitting a homerun? Guess who's taking a fastball in the ribs?
Maybe an excessive celebration after scoring in hockey? Better be ready to drop the gloves with the enforcer
etc, etc.
Face it, sports aren't about showboating and saying "in your face b!tch" is poor sportsmanship. When people do and say things like that, they deserve every bit of retaliation they get.
Um, you've got to be sh!tting me. Showboating leads to a fastball in the ribs? Doesn't that already happen in baseball? Pitchers don't already dilerberately try hitting batters? And don't batter run up to the mound when they KNOW a pitcher tried to hit him on purpose?
Excessive celebration after scoring in hockey leads to fights? That's why there are no fights in hockey now, right? Yes, celebrating in hockey is not allowed, but fighting is. Give me a fvcking break. They sure as hell don't allow fighting in football.
In football, do you know how much trash talking goes on on the line and after a hit? That's what makes football great. It's all a mind game. Strike fear into your opponent or taunt him to piss him off and throw him off his game is what it's all about.
So yeah, I want some "in your face b!tch" action!

I love the end zone celebrations as long as they don't insult the other team. Chad Johnson had some funny celebrations, and I actually looked forward to his next one. It's too bad they're doing this, most fans love this stuff...

ridic.... Let em celebrate... just don't be insulting.

I look away when the players start their "celebrations" so I would not miss them if it was all "illegal".
Instead of concentrating on something pointless as controlling celebrations why doesn't the NFL do something about improving officiating and reducing the number and severity of injuries?
Uhh... then how is football not self regulating? They already showboat in the endzone. Linemen and defenders still talk sh!t. The retaliation is kept within the rules of the game, so what's the problem? That's a big part of football.Originally posted by: RaynorWolfcastle

You think so? I'd say the pitcher would know better than to do that to Barry. Well, unless he doesn't mind Barry running up to the mound and breaking him in half. When was the last time you saw a pitcher ask for the ball after striking out Barry Bonds signing it and tossing it to a fan? Never, because every single hitter on that pitcher's team would be taking 95mph fastballs in the face for the rest of the season.
Have you ever PLAYED football? Or have you always been a couch player?Showboating is classless, and bad sportsmanship. There's nothing I like better than seeing some showboating jackass get pummelled for being a dick.

Considering some of the stupid sh!t Ive seen over the years, this can only be a good thing. Celebrations are alright but damn, some of these guys should be given a fine for subjecting the stadium fans and TV audience to a dance that mimics some guy with a cattle prod shoved up his ass.

Or When C.J talks mad trash about a CB from another team, then when he scores he throws it in their face. Thats priceless. Also speaking from personal experience - When I was in sports show-boating and being show-boated against made the game that much more fun for me. The game gets boring if its all nice-nice. You gotta have some agitation/commotion/uproar/excitement. Thats partially what showboating/endzone celebrations do.
