Seems like a few OCs were fired after the season completed. I wonder if whispers were being made that McDaniel was on his way out...

The whispers weren't that strong, but there was some speculation. (What's the correlation with OCs getting fired?)
More of the blame for the Dolphins failure had been pinned on Tua, so there was a general idea that McDaniel could be retained for next season.

But broadly speaking, if John Harbaugh is getting fired and Pete Carroll is one-and-done, then McDaniel's seat was pretty hot as well.
(Recall McDaniel was part of the decision to pay Tua after one big season, which is now a disastrous contract.)

Teams perhaps wanted to see if they could pick up McDaniel as OC? Making the commitment to hiring an OC by firing their current one? Makes me think of the show mad men where they would fire clients to go after bigger ones to prove they were committed.

weird, da Bears are now 2 point dogs at home (after opening as small favorites).
Let's see if HC Ben Johnson can leverage the disrespect card (not that any extra motivation is necessary).

Go Pack, Go!

(rumor mill has it that John Harbaugh is being patient, waiting to see what happens in GB or Buffalo?)

There shouldn't be a hot seat in either GB or Buffalo, but how can anyone be sure?
Matt LaFleur started off really hot in his first few seasons, but hasn't won the division in the last 4. Earlier in the season, the Packers had some of the shortest SB odds but things have unraveled over the past month.

IMO the AFC is wide open, so the Bills still have a great chance to do some damage without having to deal with Patrick Mahomes.
But tomorrow, they first have to get past the surging Jaguars. 🤔

I was going to watch the game but I got busy doing other things around the house. I looked at the box score at half time and saw 21-3 and Jordan Love had a near perfect passer rating and Caleb's stat line was horrendous. Thought the Bears were cooked and it wouldn't be worth watching so I never tuned in.

So stupid they're having a Monday night playoff game which gives that winning team a disadvantage automatically. They should have just had a 3:00 p.m. game today.

And this having playoff games as an exclusive on one streaming platform is fucking ridiculous.

The only worse Packers choke job was the infamous 2014 NFC champ game vs the Seahawks.

you sure about that?

i wouldn't fire him, i think he's a good coach and i doubt the Packers fire him but he's been leaving a bit on the plate the last few years
yep, I said yesterday we can't be sure of anything beforehand. In the first half, LaFleur looked genius (the offense was unstoppable) but the 4th quarter choke didn't make any sense. (It's easy to blame the kicker, but he didn't surrender 25 points in the quarter.)

I wouldn't fire LaFleur just yet, but he's in the final year of his contract. I would NOT tack on an extension now, unless it's just one more year. Generally I hate how much of a "what have you done for me lately" philosophy pervades pro sports, but in this case, LaFleur's seat should be hot. I'd want his team to show progress next season before committing multiple years.

Basically Chicago adjusted perfectly for the 2nd half and GB never even countered that, at all. They actually did a heck of job stopping Chicago with 9 opints instead of like 20 on those first 5 3nOuts or whatever that was, yeah?

So I dunno, they just looked completely inept coaching wise in that 2nd half, no? But not that has been a common thing for them or LeFleur over the years, but just saying that ineptness was an odd thing to see from how I was reading the game. It's not like Love was really off, he was making the plays he could considering how basically no one could open, but everything was just wrong from the snap throughout the 3rd quarter. like, completely. It was kinda nuts.
