Things can go downhill in the finance department rather quickly!
You buy a SMP board to use 64/66...
You use one processor and minimal memory amounts, say 512MB.
The itch to buy a second processor takes over, so you do that.
Then you want another 512MB for the second processor.
Then you realise that your card supports only 64/66 and your board has 133 PCI-X so you buy a new HBA.
You want to use write back caching on that HBA so you need a battery.
You want more cache on the HBA so you buy that.
4th generation 15k drives are announced so you start saving $$$ for those.
It's kind of hard to save the $$$ for the above since you sold your car to pay for what you have so far.
There are new video cards on the way, another $500!
Sounds about as bad as compulsive gambling!
EDIT: Forget overclocking in this realm. It is not necessary. Sure if you buy a Honda, you may want to use aftermarket add ons to gain performance. When you buy a Porsche or Ferrari, those things are unnecessary!
Cheers!
