Nextel Deal

Alright, I searched for past nextel deals and couldn't find any. I called them up today to see if I could change my plan and ended up with 1000 anytime, 5000 night and weekend, 4000 direct connect, free voice mail, free caller-id, free two-way messaging, and free internet. All this for a total of 54.99. My previous plan had been 300 anytime, 2600 night and weekend, and 100 direct connect with nothing else for 39.99. Seems pretty hott to me 🙂 Best of luck, all i did was asked if there were any unpublished plans and this is what they offered me (had to work on the two-way messaging and internet).

The plan you got seems to be the nextel 10,000 plan, which has been advertised on tv and radio. Its a good plan and the price is competitive as well.

10,000 plan

I use to have Nextel....love the two way radio.

I MUST WARN THOUGH: NEXTEL HAS THE WORST COSUMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH.

I moved from Point A to Point B and needed a new number. Took them 8 weeks to get me a new number and then it didnt work....cancelled service!!!!! :|🙁:|

The problem Nextel has is that, in some areas, they are growing too fast for the amount of phone numbers they have available. When I first signed up a year ago, They did not have a phone number available in the home area I wanted(I actually needed 2). After screwing with CS for several weeks, I finally went back to the Nextel store where I got the phones. I told him I wanted numbers in this area and handed him the phones. The Nextel guy spent 3 hrs on the phone and finally got 2 phone numbers(consecutive too) for my phones.

Now, as for customer service, they difinitely aren't the best, however, they were very apologetic and gave me free unlimited nights and weekends as well as 300 extra minutes a month onto my plans. Not bad since my plan only has 300 minutes to begin with.

The deal that you got is a very good deal. I thought about getting it but really can't justify that much more a month, since I don't use my cellphone all too much.

I second the crappy customer service! Took me 2 hours on the phone to return a phone I didn't order which came pre-activated along with a service bill. I orderd service and then 2 months later a second pre-activated phone showed up on my doorstep. I got transfered around about 6 times before I got to someone who could send a RMA label.

YMMV - Check for a discount at your office. I get 25% off phones and 15% off service and 100 bonus minutes for personal accounts in addition to any other offers they are currently running.

I would get Nextel but their phone service is horrible. The only thing I like is the direct connect because all my friends have it.
Also, if I didn't work for the phone company I am at right now, I would switch as well.

interesting...customer service has been pretty good for me at least. when i asked for a change of numbers, they did it instantly. the number was programmed over the air instantly.

hmmmmmmmmm...........

Nextel coverage can be sucky.
I have various signal strength problems here and there around the Detroit area.
dropping calls or just plain not being able to make calls sucks.
I have had the phone checked out at the service center too.. they blame it on not enough towers and no one wants a tower in their back yard.

I also have a Verizon cell phone which NEVER has signal problems.

Luckily the Nextel is paid for by work. I would never pay my cash for a Nextel.
2-way feature is nice though.. (although, signal strength problems affect this too!!)

nextel is trash
they pretty much robbed me because they held my credit history as "hostage"

buyer beware. The person i spoke with, Randall, went as far as to tell me that because I'm not a current customer anymore, I will not get any customer "service"
shows what type of people this company employees

plus the coverage was crappy. I visit Kent State University frequently and could never get a signal there. Yet they argued with me that they have coverage. I asked the CSR to kindly fly down here and bring her own phone so I could show her she was wrong. Of course they didn't

i shoulda got nextel.

my at&T sucks in my neighborhood, and im 30 minutes from NYC, not in the sticks.

I wish these companies would pay for cancellation fees to get me to switch 🙂

If you sign up with the 5,000 or 10,000 plan, make sure you request that they include long distance free. Those plans normally doesn't cover LD but they included it for me in order to keep me as a customer.

We have had Nextel for a year and were due for a renewal so they were willing to make concessions to keep us.

my plan beats that... originally i had the national free incoming 300 plan.. when the breakthrough 10000 plan came out i tried to switch, they said if i do, then i would lose that last months credit that u hafta pay with the first bill... after asking about the ethics and legality of it all... after complaining for about 5 minutes, the CSR told me she would give me a deal...

600 outgoing minutes
unlimited nights and weekends
free incoming
unlimited direct connect
free long distance
and $5 for the premium web... for a total of $59.99 a month...

of course i took it!!!
