It really doesn't matter what kind of engine you put in there. Something with as much torque and power as the VQ has would be too much to handle for the small Elise.
The Elise weighs about 1500 lbs, so the Toyota V6 is MORE than enough. The Toyota V6 makes between 192HP [Camry] and 220HP [Highlander]

The article states a 2.5 liter engine, not the 3.0 here in the US.

I guess they haven't heard about the sludge.
Anyways, I think a Camry V6 is too heavy for a car like Elise and could have a negative effect on the handling, which is what sells Lotuses.
They should have put an SR20DET into it. Then it would be one hell of a car.

Well if that's the case, then why is everyone screaming for a 3.0 liter VQ? Damn Nissan nuts![]()

The only problem is that V6 is hardly known for its power delivery. The 4 banger in parents' 02 Camry is lethargic to say the least, and that's with a 5-speed! The V6 is not much better except for the extra power. I agree that there's plenty of power for the light Lotus, but the delivery is all wrong. An Elise with a Type-R motor is faster then the last Mustang Cobra R.
