Next gen Toyota Corolla hatcback (aka, the new "Auris")

ewww. i'll take the tires though.

profile view isn't too bad actually, I like it. Actually, i like the profile view of the xA and *gasp* hatch yaris. but that's as far as I go.

it's hideous

is it going to be sold as 'matrix' here in the US and have a pontiac version that sells for $3,000 less even though it's the same car?

how can you all find resemblence to the Matrix? It looks so much smaller than a matrix and imo is more closely resemble the xA/Yaris.

i would guess because the matrix is built on the corolla platform. it makes logical sense.

but it look like a better Yaris...

That's what I was thinking... a Yaris with a less objectionable instrument panel.

and possible 6 speed manual tran....

With all that power in that econobox you really do need a 6 speed...

Definetly a souped up yaris, why they're calling it a corrola is beyond me.

Calling the new Corolla/Auris a souped up Yaris is like calling a 5-Series a souped up 3-Series.

Nissan has 6-spd (or CVT) for their 140hp Sentra. but I do agree with you, do you really need that many gears?

Not too surprising. If a lot of people are going to bail on SUVs due to gas mileage, hatchbacks generally give the best combination of gas mileage and utility space. I know I've been considering a hatchback for my next car for that very reason.

No! Stop making sense!

Anyway, it looks okay. Interior is hot, exterior is meh. Guess it's gonna have to grow on me.
