Seven charges of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, one count of theft of public funds and two counts of making materially false statements to the House of Representatives. Damn that's big stuff-even the HoR stuff would justify any Speaker (except McCarthy) from booting him out immediately. McCarthy needs Santos (GOP in a Dem district) he won't do anything until conviction-and maybe not until the appeals are exhausted. Santos' two year term will be over before then.

theft of public funds = fraudulently applying for and receiving unemployment benefits (while being paid $120k salary), continuing his pattern of defrauding anyone and everything he can

It does.

He applied for and got COVID unemployment benefits while he was employed making $120K a year.

He then went on a video rant against unverified COVID unemployment benefits.
That's absolutely insane. I have to imagine he knew he filed for unemployment benefits despite being employed. This is black and white. Don't apply for benefits if you have a job. He needs to go to prison.

Lol he just left the courthouse. It’s a witch-hunt. Look how quickly they indicted me but not Hunter.

I can almost guarantee that the EDNY will be using at least a portion of this presser during the prosecution.

Hunter May be dumb, but he isn’t “let’s-run-for public-office-as-a-fraud-and-keep-criming-while-in-office” dumb.

Why would the GOP side with a dirtbag like this?
Because they have a razor thin majority in the House and if they expelled him he would almost certainly be replaced by a Democrat.

Really though he might be more useful than the alternative in his current position. He seems to be McCarthy’s lapdog and while McCarthy is awful he’s not quite as insane as the MTGs and Gaetz’s of the world. A slimmer majority gives the crazier republicans more leverage.
