It certainly defies credulity that one person could be this fucking dense and reach such high office, yet the implication that democrats could successfully run such a complex subterfuge is somehow even more unlikely.

He did it to feed his ego and didn't expect to win. Multiple people have said this. Once he did win (and probably before) he got addicted to the sweet, sweet nectar known as campaign grifting. Don't forget, he announced his campaign to run for re-election almost a month BEFORE he was even sworn in.
Congress isn't a high office anymore. Clearly any halfwit can run and win a seat.

That video at the beginning of your article, which does not contain the secret recording, has something else interesting in it. The local reporter in Long Island who first broke the story about Santos' lies says the newspaper had looked over his campaign financial disclosures. Which say his campaign spent $1.5 million. But according to the reporter, he ran essentially no campaign at all. No commercials. Not even a lawn sign.
So we're beyond wondering where his campaign money came from. We're now wondering what happened to it after it arrived. Like, whose bank account is it in right now...
The good news for George is that since he's only 34 years old, he might still be alive when his prison term ends.

The latest is he apparently owes almost $3500 in unpaid traffic violations from FL and NY. Somehow I don't see FL going after him though. I'd love it if his ass was hauled out of Congress mid session on a warrant .

No, they've lied at similar levels. Either you really went out of your way to ignore just how rampant Turmp's lies were or, like I said, you smashed your self in the head with a hammer, but you need your head checked if you're really gonna pull this "nah, Turmp was actually ok, cause he told the truth once out of 50 billion lies, but this fucking guy now he stretches my incredulity!"
Further, Turmp's lies were about MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH more important stuff and almost always were even more ridiculously able to be fact-checked basically immediately and shown to be lies.
The more I see of people's thoughts, the more I fully understand why and how we got here. We fully deserve this political reality.
