Newegg UPS shipping

I know other people have said this too, but pay extra for the FedEx shipping. I don't have a problem with UPS, but it seems like the Newegg box-packers take more care when packing a FedEx package.

I ordered 5 HDs (4x 400GB WD RAID drives + a Seagate) and some other assorted parts. They threw everything in one big box with a bunch of foam peanuts. All 5 HDs were just in their static bags & placed close enough so that they bounced off eachother during the entire trip. Guess what... one has completely crashed upon 1st boot.

I've ordered a set of 4 drives before via Newegg / FedEx & newegg put them in a nice divided styrofoam container, and that inside a larger shipping carton.

Now I get to wait for WD to ship me a new drive before I can get my RAID system configured. We'll see how long the others last...

What a pain in the a**

Yup. I thought it was just people complaining that UPS is slower than FedEx. Now I see that it's actually just Newegg's fault.

How much do you bet FedEx makes them pack things more carefully because of insurance reasons?

Thats not a shipping problem, thats neweggs mistake. Thats how they ship their stuff.

Hey Knavish,

We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced due to this unacceptable situation. We understand you have already sent off one drive to WD for replacement, and we would also like to offer our assistance, if needed, for replacements of the drives.

If you could, please provide me with your Sales Order number (SO#) for the 5 HD's you purchased, as we would like to log these occurrences in hopes of reducing the % of this happening again.

If anyone else has similar experiences please do not hesitate to contact myself with your information and I will present the information to the appropriate parties in hopes of further prevention of unfavorable situations as these.

Please feel free to PM myself if you have any questions or concerns.

I regularly deal with venders and contractors all the time. Some give me good service and some terrible. But none have ever given me better service than NewEgg. This reply to Knavish is an example of such service. I have told several managers at work to look into NewEgg as an example of excellent customer service. IMHO there isn't a vender that comes close to this level.

LOL! Me too!

At this point, I, like many others, am paying a bit more for Fedex Express. I've never had an issue with them.

I ordered a big chunk of my last build from newegg to include my HDD. It came in the static bag and wrapped with the big bubble wrap. All the stuff was shipped through UPS and came it perfect condition. Sorry that this happened to your stuff man, but I don't think this is the norm from newegg though.

It's too bad that Newegg shipping prices to Hawaii are astronomical. Checked on their PSUs and was scared away by the UPS charges.

Had to go with Mwave & eBay because they were afforable.

UPS is always cheaper for Fedex than me, and has always arrived just as fast or faster. I've never had packaging problems with anything I've ordered from Newegg (which is a LOT). 2 LCDs (no dead pixels), components for 2 complete PCs (including 1 sound card, 4 video cards (2 of which were RMA'd flawlessly due to me making the wrong choice)), 3 games, 2 mice.

That sucks. I have a question that's sorta related. Does anyone know if UPS will leave a package from Newegg if no one is home? What about FedEx? I'm at work during the day and there's no one else here to sign for a package.

What UPS does for me is to leave a sticky note on my door, and then you can either sign that to have them drop the package the next day, or call UPS and go pick it up yourself from the local distribution center.

My local Fedex drivers just leave packages sitting on my doorstep even if I tell them not to. In theory they're also supposed to leave a note. Of course, the last thing I bought that got shipped Fedex also had a big hole knocked in the side of the packaging.

Sounds like you just unluckily got a bad Newegg box packer. When I ordered from Newegg I picked UPS and everything was packed perfectly with bubble wrap and then placed in a box of foam peanuts. I only ordered 1 hard drive though along with all the other usual parts for a PC, (mobo, vid card, ram, PSU...etc.) All parts that needed bubble wrap such as the RAM sticks and hard drive were bubble wrapped as they should be. Oh and UPS is good around here (as is Fed Ex.) I've never had a problem with either. They came on time and didn't knock the packages around or anything.

Just got a $1100 order from NewEgg today which included HD's, video card, memory and some fans. Everything indiviually wrapped and packed well. Delivery was right on time for their usual delivery (11AM). Third order since the "switch" and no complaints yet, except for overall cost of shipping but, everythings gone up so I guess it's simply "status quoe".

Both come at 2-3pm for me. Only one time I had Fedex come at 5pm. My dad has ordered unmeasureable amounts of IC components from Digikey via UPS and I don't think he has ever had any problems.

UPS is much faster for me, but at a high cost, UPS sucks when it comes to quality. Most boxes I get through UPS are usually dented and in bad shape. FedEx does a great job at handling shipments though.
I've been to a few FedEx locations and their employees seem to be better quality people as well!

A lot of the final delivery depends on your driver. I guess I've been lucky in that both the regular FedEx and UPS drivers that handle my neighborhood are both good. What sucks big time about FedEx is they've got a "FedEx Home" that's not really FedEx. I hate, hate, hate it when I order something that says they'll ship FedEx and it comes via FedEx Home.

Both FedEx and UPS are good companies. Screw ups happen though. It's all in how they get resolved that separates the good companies from the great. NewEgg is definately a great company in my book.

I ordered a video card from ChiefValue, Newegg in another costume. I ordered last Friday and the 3 day weekend followed and I got the package via UPS on Tuesday and I live in Arizona. Oh, and the package came from New Jersey!!!!

Five years ago, I had a lot of problems with UPS but anymore they and FedEx both give me good service.

Well, from my experience, I gotta agree with that 'better quality people' statement.... Most of the guys at the main UPS branch here are a bunch of a#(&$*#@...
