I still use the Egg now and then, mostly my computer items I guess.

Actually the vast majority of anything computer related comes from there, I just haven't been upgraded lately I guess.

Seems they resolved it pretty well.

0/1/2 day free shipping + great return policy + great customer service = I still spend hundreds every month on Amazon and never hesitate to buy > $100 items.

It's not like ya'll are supposed to skip out on the sales tax anyway.

Most of my Amazon Prime orders take 2 days. Some I get in 1 day but that's rare. Amazon return policy is great but you have to pay for return shipping if it's not Amazon fault. Shoprunner has free shipping and free returns. That's better than Amazon. With Amex and Shoprunner, I'm covered 100% if I have any issues.

You can keep ordering from Amazon and continue to pay more for the privilege. I'll stick to free Shoprunner and no sales tax and lower price.

I don't find the egg cheaper for the computer parts I need to buy. YMMV. Of course , newegg collects sales tax in my state too.

Oh yeah, for buying computer goods, Newegg has the best interface to find what you want and the specs and pictures to actually make a sale. Amazon's description and specs might as well be: "We think this is a video card, or a toaster, it's one or the other". My problem with purchasing from Newegg comes solely from their shipping. Order a $180 4TB Seagate NAS hard drive, takes 10 days to get here from USPS. Order a $24 drive cage and it gets here in two days via UPS. 3-Day shipping should be their bottom of the barrel free shipping option. 90% of their things can fit in a USPS flat rate box, $7 anywhere in the US 2-3 days. Though they probably get better bulk rate than that from UPS/FedEx.

I've never waited more than 3-4 days for anything but it'd been a year or more since I've ordered from them so maybe they've changed shipping options..

Most of what I order isn't sold by Newegg.

Whatever....I still find the Egg far superior to Amazon for anything computer related, and the web sites aren't even remotely in the same league. I even prefer Tigerdirect for pc related purchases. The only thing I can remember recently purchasing from Amazon computer related is my 1600w Lepa and some CLU tim, which oddly Newegg doesn't stock. My only real complaint with Newegg had always been their return/restock policies/fees which Premier takes care of.

Cuz when you buy from amazon your processing time is measured in minutes, not days.

I disagree. In my experience, Amazon is notorious for sitting on an order because they know it will ship from a warehouse that's close by, which means that if they wait an extra day, I'll still get it in my delivery window. Newegg doesn't do this. I placed an order at Newegg on Monday at 10:40 AM and had a tracking number in less than two hours. I placed an order very, very early this morning (something like 4 AM), and I had a tracking number by 9:45 AM. Both packages shipped from the local warehouse, and I get them the next day.

I've only ever had Newegg sit on a single package for seemingly no reason one time (and they sat on it for a good 3-4 days), which was a bummer as it was a component that I needed rather than something that was not fairly necessary at the time.

1) They don't do it if you're a prime member
2) Newegg does it (or used to) do it all the time with their fedex super saver shipping. I live 1 hour away from their City of Industry OG location, and they NEVER got you an order in less than 3 days with super saver shipping.

anyway, enough amz wankage here. night ya'll.

For comparison's sake I ordered a graphics card from Tigerdirect that had Shoprunner (very spotty with them - most of their stuff doesn't). Ordered it late Monday night and it shipped Tuesday. The UPS tracking number said it would be here tomorrow. One day processing and two day shipping. Not as good as Amazon, but not bad. Newegg does the same and I'm in the same state. TG is shipping to me from across the country. Regardless, I don't wait too long with any of them.

eBay fail... BIN something yesterday around late morning with a shipping estimate of July 11th or so on it, seller had a FedEx (ground presumably) tracking number to me by early afternoon. FedEx says it's out for delivery as of this morning.

I swear, people are slacking these days...

Yeah, I agree. It took Newegg a whole hour and a half to issue me a tracking number for an order I placed this morning. Oh well....I'm going to go ahead and blame them for me not getting it tomorrow because of the holiday anyway. ;)

Yes, they do. I've been a prime member for years, and they tend to sit on my order more often that not.

Well, yeah... if you use Amazon's cheap-ass shipping (Super Saver), it's just about as bad. That's the one nice advantage of ShopRunner as it pretty much forces Newegg to not use USPS (Amazon still does for Prime orders) and usually gets them to ship it ASAP. Also, ShopRunner is free if you have an AMEX card!!!

Sounds like how I treat my eBay auctions. If you can buy the item prior to when I leave work for lunch (about 11 AM), I'll print off the label, slap it on the package, and drop it off. If the item is a more expensive item (say a pricey video card), then I'll be willing to go out of my way to drop it off.

Speaking of Newegg, you may want to be a bit wary if you want to take part in Google Wallet's -$15 off $50 using the iPhone app and Google Wallet. My package was supposed to be delivered today, but I found out that Google left off my second line, which contained my apartment number. So, as you would expect, UPS cannot deliver the package if they don't know where to deliver it to! What's ludicrous about this is that a company as large as Google could make such a silly, sophomoric mistake -- it's not the first time I've had this sort of thing happen to me when placing online orders. After the last time I had this happen, I usually put all of my information on the first line; however, Google Wallet kept trying to autofill everything with Google Maps data. So, I wanted to avoid any potential errors caused by excess data in the line 1 field. :\

Man, stuff like this really irks me.
