seems like the 0248 0249's are doing well...

man, why do i get so unlucky? :(

My 0301 2100+ can't go above 2100 mhz too. I miss my 2400+. :(

this was probably answered somewhere but i missed it in the long thread... please indulge me someone

the Newegg product page states this as "OEM - CPU Only Model#: AXDA1700DLT3C -OEM." I understand the DLT3C part to mean its an A. However am I correct to assume that despite this note, most of you are in fact getting B's. Or has newegg been change (ing) this information to reflect on your particular processor to be shipped? I am aware the price just went up a little, but $49 with free shipping is damn nice for a T-bred B if in fact it is one. Or do you just have to take the chance...?

PS this CPU will work fine with an asus A7V133 right?

Okay, I haven't been keeping up with the CPU/motherboards.

I'm thinkin about getting this CPU, would this motherboard be compatible?

link

Because it didn't mention anything about Throughbred, but it did say Athlon XP.

I plan to OC it to 1.9 or 2.0Ghz. Anyone able to recommand any cheap motherboard that can do that?

Yup,

EPoX EP-8RDA+ it's somewhere between 108 to 113 dollars from lots of vendors...

gameve.com , mwave.com .... umm... that's all i can remember right now but there's a post about it somewhere... do a search for it under the motherboard forum....

(skip to STATS below for useful info)

everyone, get the dutc version from newegg, not dltc, thats the shittier a revision. If you get the dutc, you'll get the b revision and most if not all people are getting the a stepping, which is better than the j stepping. The 1700+'s rev. b's are supposedly mostly the j stepping, so they supposedly don't overclock quite as well as the 2100+'s with their a stepping.

Just so ya know, newegg is selling the dutc rev. b's oem only, and at a slight premium (costs more) than the dltc rev. a's. Get the dutc's, they run cooler and are better for overclocking.

I got a dutc 2100+ rev. b a stepping cpu from newegg.

Right now, I'm prime95ing the bastard while using a swiftech 462+ and a thermaltake smart fan 2@ 4000 rpm. It previously passed the prime95 torture test with my fan @5000rpm, but 4000rpm is much quieter, so I'd like to get by with that, here's the breakdown:

STATS STATS STATS

xp2100+ rev.b w/ a-stepping running @ 166fsb * 12.5 = 2.075 Ghz = xp2600+
swiftech 462+ w/thermaltake smartfan 2@5000 rpm
voltage = 1.75v (may be .25v too high, not sure yet)
load temp after 6.5 hrs or prime95 and sof2 (online game) = 43C = 109F (screw idle temp. I could give a ####)

I think thats pretty cool, I hope it doesn't get over 45C with just 4000rpm from my smart fan2. I've noticed arcitc silver application can make a significant difference in temp outcomes (like 1-3 degrees C), so I may check this again later and see if I can apply it a little better (I had to remove the 462+, during my initial installation, when I realized the standoff's were rotating too much when trying to screw in the 462+, and I didn't redo the arctic silver when I replaced the 462+).

BTW: to all the hardcore processor friers out their, I'm looking to replicate a stock 2600+'s performance, nothing more, nothing less, this is my first time overclocking anything, so don't tell me to take it higher. If you have any tips on how to make what I'm doing better, please speak up. Peace.

PS: thumbs up to Shimmishim for recommending the smart fan 2, I ended up buying up a new hsf, but i went for the 462+ instead of the slk-800. I like swiftech.

I'd like to know if you are still getting T-Bred B's as I am actually downgrading. Yes, I said downgrade. But in a way, its for the better.

I'm goin from my 2.4B to a XP1700+ for like 2 weeks then a XP2600-2800 depending on what I have onhand. But I'd love to know if they are still Bs.

1 2100+ B

Sorry if this has already been answered--

What's a good HSF for moderate to low noise? Or is that a "if you have to ask, don't bother" sort of question.

hehehe it's okay.. we're nice here!

well, i think the heatsink that everyone has or has been getting is the slk-800 which can be found at svc.com for about 30.00 ... pure copper heatsink.. it's a beast!

for fan: you want a variable speed fan... most people i believe have a TT smart fan 2 (80 mm) or the YS tech variable fan (i believe its 80 mm as well)....

the slk800 comes with a thing so you can attach 60, 70, 80, even 92 mm fans on the heatsink...

whats the range people have been getting with a 2100+? i just got my 1700+ and i'm running it at 13x166 = 2075mhz @ 1.75v, and it seems like its pretty stable. It was able to post at 2375 but my samsung pc2700 probably can't cut it, as well as the fact i don't have a very good fan on my ax-7. anyone know if a slk-800 is that much better than an ax-7?
