Also, it looks like the 2100+ Tbred with core AIUHB might be THE processor to get, seeing that is the same stepping as the now 2400+ Tbreds. Who knows, maybe it will turn out better then whats going on so far with the other Tbred Bs

My lowly A will do 2ghz easy. I haven't even tried higher. So, No need for me to run out and get another cpu until Barton arrives.

OK I have a rookie question. I got one of the 1800+ revA, it came 2 days ago. It is retail and comes with little rubber pads, 1 in each corner. These do come off right? I got an ECS K7S5A and a Chaintech Geforce4 MX440 and 1 of those Infinity cases with a 400 Watt PSU.

hehe leave the pads on. What heatsink fan combo are you using? The pads do a poor job of balancing weight during installation of your heat sink, but they are better than nothing. For me they just collect Arctic SilverOh, n/m just saw you bought retail

Okay, I am about ready to jump in on the 1700+ "B" from NewEgg.
I will need a new motherboard for the SLot A AMD type processor.
I got a hechuva deal on an ABIT Raid board for around $58. It is a KT266A but now there are at least three upgrade levels I can choose from.
Since I do not want to put any more into this PC than I have to, and buy new Memory, what type of Motherboard, from where, do you all feel would serve my son's gaming addiction???
Thanks to all for their input.

f*ck, i want to overclock but i only have a KT266a mobo! me want overclock!
if i were going to do it, i would get the Epox board nForce board (the + with the LAN) and some crucial PC2700 goodness and set a 1800+ (11.5 * 133) to 2300+ (11.5 * 166). no unlocking, just a simple FSB change. nice and clean, that would be rad!

The ABIT MB is a KR7A-Raid I havent found the ABIT at the same price I paid for it back in May 2002 - around $52. And, that MSI GF3 Ti500 video card I got for around $70 can't be found either...
So, any and ALL input is appreciated; and anyone with links and prices are doubly appreciated!
