From what I can tell, it appears that Newegg charges S&H on a multiple item order. Is this correct ? I want to buy a case, mobo , processor from them but the S&H charges if added together make them much more $ than a competitor. What's the deal with S&H at Newegg . - Thanks

It's not exactly like that. When you buy multiple items, you aren't charged full S&H. The exceptions are processors and cases, which are
shipped by themselves.

Their S&H system is kinda funny, but it's not bad.

When I ordered a cpu & mobo they mailed them both separately and in equally large boxes

I was going to buy a CF card and CF card reader from Newegg.
They wanted to charge shipping on each item......thats ridiculous - no reasion why they could not ship those items in the same box. Made it cheaper to buy elsewhere.

Products ship from different locations many times. Their S&H is about as reasonable as it gets.

1) Quit whining and buy somewhere else :)
2) THey charge that amount because they rarely ship 2 products in the same box
3) We like things in threes

Not 100% of the time. My last processor from them was shipped with the rest of my order. I guess it's because it was during a free shipping promotion, and they didn't want to spend the money since it was theirs instead of mine.

With the margins these online vendors have to work off of, you'd wonder how they can sell stuff so cheap and still be in business. SHIPPING is how they do it. It's the way the cookie crumbles.

Compare their shipping to others. Much more reasonable than most others.

BTW NEWEGG ROCKS!!!!

Just thought I would add that.

Recently ordered two copies of exact same video card from them. Ended up with both stuff in the same white box stuffed inside cardboard shipping box. Paid exactly double the shipping charges for one card.

Face it, Newegg makes their money off shipping/handling charges. I don't begrudge them this, just go into your purchase with eyes wide open and fully aware of the TOTAL cost of the purchase.

Newegg's shipping charges are slightly highly than most, but other online vendors charge a whole lot more.

I've ordered from them many times in the past, ordered say 10 items and the shipping should add up to $40.
(according to the shipping on each item), but then comes up as like $27. or something - usually less!!

But, I ordered about 8 different items in an order about 3 weeks ago and there was NO discount on shipping!!

So, I don't know if they changed something and are sticking to full shipping charges or not.
Just throw stuff in the cart and calculate it.

I' ve had good luck with NEWEGG on multiple item orders. The initial shipping costs shows as per item, but when I checked out, the total shipping dropped. They're cost is reasonable and if the item is in stock, you can't get faster shipping. I ordered the Chieftech case last Weds afternoon. It showed up in FedEx tracking Thursday morning.

I don't know exactly what formula that they us. I just ordered some items and wasn't charged full amount on all. I still think that their priceing and shipping are competative. I will always compare anything I'm shopping for there.

I ordered quite a bit from them 2 weeks ago. Case, motherboard, retail Athlon w/heatsink, video card, DVD-ROM, CD-ROM and 2 case fans. Only the case came boxed separately. CPU was boxed with motherboard and DVD-ROM. not separately. After I had everything in my cart, I hit recalculate shipping and it was reduced considerably. If this charge is reasonable, go with it. Besides, no one has better prices than newegg for most items.
Interesting sidenote, I added a LCD monitor to the order and recalculated shipping. It increased more than what was listed for ordering the monitor separately. I deleted it from the ordered because that's just wrong!

I agree that newegg rocks - usually.

I bought 3 cell phone batteries. They each weigh about 4 ounces and they cost $8.50 each - great deal - merch total - $25.50

I had to pay $6.50 for shipping on each - $19.50

They came in the same box which was about 8 inches square by 3 inches high and weighed lees than a pound.

THAT is outrageous. (of course I still bought them from them but gimme a break)

considering that i usually get 1 day shipping even though it's express saver i think the costs are VERY REASONABLE...your mileage may vary if you don't live in so. cal though :)

I'm putting together a big order and so far the shipping hasn't broke $20. I'm not ordering a motherboard or a CPU though but here are the details:

Total Shipping if adding up product description shipping prices:
$5 x 3
$7 x 1
$4 x 2

= $30

Actual shipping to midwest (West is a couple dollars cheaper): $19.86

So it's painful but it isn't all that bad. If I add on some Epson Premium Photo Quality inkjet paper ($11 for 20 sheets, $5 shipping) the shipping goes up 5 cents. So it really depends on what you are ordering (I'm looking at Smartmedia cards, mobile hard drives, etc).

Once you start adding over 3 things they dont charge that much. I added on a floppy with 5 other things i ordered and shipping went up $1.20. They use a shipping calculator. I have called them in the past and just ordered over the phone. Shipping was about the same.

I live on the east coast "delaware" so I dont complain about their shipping rates. FED EX express. Reasonable. I have a fed ex account. And it would be hard for me to send a MB or a CPU in a fed ex box to California for the same $8 for a MB or $6.95 for a CPU. Even on a WILL CALL it wont be that cheap.

I just ordered 2 cases, 2 mobo's, 2 cpu's,1 memory,1 zip drive,1 floppy, a retail vid card, 2 hard drives, and shipping was $48 dollars. But it will come in probably 4 to 5 fed ex boxes. I ordered thursday, and it will be delivered tomorrow. It's actually at my fed ex location now if i want to pick it up.

New egg rocks, No problem ever with an RMA even on stuff i screwed up. And they covered shipping, just fax them your shipping bill. Everytime i stray somewhere else except for Dell or Gateway store, I get burned.

they make money off S&H.
$7 (or was it $6) was the fee to ship a freakin CD in a plastic case or possibly a paper sleeve.
that's just wrong.

I ordered 2 processors from them last week and the shipping was double, but it was still much cheaper then their nearest competitor + I trust them.

NewEgg ROCKS!

BTW ? Have any of you had any luck getting them to ship to your work address?

And what should they charge for shipping for a single CD, considering that Fed-Ex seems to start at $5 for residential delivery.

I've always been charged seperate shipping charges for each item no matter what I've ordered. It is bad in my opinion.
