It's not the latest and greatest, but still a good choice: the Ryzen 5 5600 is $118 at Amazon with the game bundle (warning: you may have to look at the other seller options to find the one sold directly by Amazon for this price), and it's still $120 at Microcenter ($95 after a coupon you can get per SD).

Big benefit of the 5600 over the 5500: PCIe4.0, which is useful if you're interested in most of the RX 65xx/66xx/67xx cards which have only 8 PCIe lanes internally (so you could see a small performance hit if you run them in a PCIe3.0 situation).

With these price cuts, I couldn't turn down the Ryzen for my new build, despite previously having my eye on the i5-12400f. After an AmEx 20% credit at Amazon for using a single membership rewards point, I got the R5 5600 for $100.

Yeah it is compelling BUT if you stayed with what you had CPU wise and put that money towards a better graphics card instead of the 7000 series upgrade.

Either way its a win. The prices are dropping everywhere except for NVIDIAs new cards.
