I have no idea what you are doing!?!? I went to Newegg's home page and for kicks I added all six items advertised on the home page. The total shipping for each item was 10+10+5+3+3+7 for a total of 38.00. The shipping was then calculated at 18.25 in my cart and then added to the purchase price of 458.00 for a total of 476.25. That's 3.8% of the total. They DO NOT charge individual shipping per item. To our esteemed platinum member, shipping is not 10.00 per item. You need to investigate throughly before making off the cuff remarks.................

I also tried "buying" 5 of the Toshiba 16X DVD drives that had 10 shipping. Five drives are 19.14 for shipping. 10 drives have a price tag of 25.95 for shipping. What are people bitchin' about??????? These are very respectable shipping costs.

Hmmm. Obvious, isn't it? 187 is just a piss-poor excuse for a troll, possibly he owns some competing web shop. Either that or he's just plain stupid.

shipping depends on what you buy.

prepared to get raped if you buy 10 monitors =O

187: what shipping method did you choose?

<< newegg thinks its customers are dumb. im am outraged by their rediculous shipping policies >>

Naw, he's not biased. 😉 But, really, I don't know where those shipping numbers he quotes come from. I ordered $255 worth of goods from them, got $18 shipping charge. Reasonable enough.

I ordered $442 worth of stuff last month (sound card, dvd, hard drive, Radeon) and the total for shipping was only about $16.

Newegg rules, although they should buy a better domain name.

Some sites like egghead charged by the number of boxes shipped. If you ordered all small stuff and it came in one box then it was one low price. If you ordered a whoel bunch of things that require separate boxes, the charges go up. This makes sense since they are getting charged by the box too to ship your stuff.

Aw c'mon. Every time I see those little eggs in the upper left corner, I start to giggle. It's so kitsch.

I'm getting good performance(43C) out of the Cooler Master EP5-6i11-A1 on my 1.4 GHz setup. That is the fan that is packaged with the retail 1.4GHz Sorry to say they are currently out of stock.

firstly, Gilby, a childish immature looser, is obviously a moron. yes you are correct. i am a troll for another internet store. i am jealous of new egg. jesus. shut up. i was merely commenting on my own experience. i was trying to recreate the shipping charges by adding everything back to my cart, but alot of the things i had were out of stock. so i will retry later and get back to you. i know alot of people who dealt with newegg and they have good service, cheap prices etc.. i am just a little in disagreeance with their shipping policies. when i can recreate what i had before i will get back to you people. in the meantime hopefully people like Gilby will keep their ignorant anal retentive comments to themselves.

Well, they probably have to have separte boxes for the Case and CPU. I wouldn't want a big heavy case resting on top of my cpu (depending how the shippers handle the things)

Newegg has some of the best deals on lian li cases, mostly because they have free shipping for them. I wouldnt complain about that 😀

I placed my first order from Newegg last week. Here's what I got:
Iwill KK266 mobo 107.00
Duron 850 58.00
Cpu Fan 8.00
Subtotal 173.00
Tax 0.00
Shipping and Handling 19.31
Total 192.31

Now I am not jumping all over Newegg for there shipping practices but in my situation it seems a little on the high side. I did get the stuff in 2-3 days though so I guess that is worth a little more.
just thought I'd share my experience.

I ordered the following:

ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon
Hercules Game Theater XP
Sunon 80 mm case fan * 3
Epox 8k7a MB

Shipping was listed as 7+5+4*3+5... Recalculating the shipping did not change the total. When I received the items, they were all in one big box. That means I payed over $25 shipping on items packaged completely together that should have cost half that. Yes, I still got a good deal on the parts and I would have bought from them again, but I do think that their shipping policies are a bit excessive...

I ordered about $400 worth of goodies from them in April, and the total shipping was about 9%. It sounds a little high, but that included a case, and was still much less than I could have gotten the whole thing for anywhere else. Bottom line cost is what counts.

I think they use the shipping cost to manage runs on certain single items. If they are really trying to move an item out of inventory, they'll offer free shipping. Otherwise, they put a relatively high amount on there to encourage people to buy their whole system there. Worked for me.

BTW- My 1 GHz Athlon C from Newegg was an AVIA, but I'm not complaining. It's still doing 1.4+ with a cheap coolermaster fan!

I heard a rumor about NewEgg. They are supposedly selling all items at cost to gain market share and a following. They are trying to drive up the popularity of the company so they can sell it for a good profit. Just a rumor...

I have also had great transactions with Newegg. I purchased 4 complete systems, minus case and monitor and the shipping was MUCH cheaper than the individual parts. Something like $70 for $1800 worth of parts.

Regards

I've ordered several times from NewEgg and the orders have always been shipped promptly and arrived on time. As with most other online vendors, NewEgg uses shipping charges to supplement their profit margins. Who cares! Just look at the bottom line on what your cost is. I'm usually satisfied if my sales tax savings covers my shipping costs.

That's basically what buy.com did. Before the dotcom bubble burst, I think buy.com was selling stuff BELOW cost, just to generate traffic and make a few sales on some highly profitable items to make up for it. Buy.com is a fairly recognizable brand now but I know their financials were disgraceful for a while there.

Doesn't suprise me, and if they are, it is working
