no, not that, I just don't know when I would actually be able to get in a G0 from a reputable retailer. It seems likely that it will be tough to get one in the next month or so and I do need to do something asap, so I decided to get the e6750 as a stopgap for the next 12-18 mos and then upgrade to a nice penryn quad core when prices go down on them.

Have you tried to go higher ?.. 3.2 seems pretty common with default vcore..

I know what you mean about double the encoding speed ..

Quad is good ...

Best I can do right now is 3 gig. Mabye my psu but I did get my 6300 to 3.4, so I imagine its the cpu!

Newegg is gouging right now anyways. Both the e6850 and q6600 are quite a bit higher than other sites.

It could be the PSU -- Quad will draw almost twice the power as 6300 at full load ..

Have you guys been paying attention to the prices at the egg? First they dropped down to $279 and today they're $375. Greed has set in to the max.

I've been a loyal newegg customer for four years, and have even turned others onto that store, but it seems like over the past year they've gotten really bad about jacking pricing.

Since I've been shopping with them, they've always tweaked prices up and down by a small margin depending on availability/demand(even on a daily basis), but now it's almost like they're trying to sucker people into paying an extreme amount.

It used to be almost a given that if you went to newegg for a certain product you were going to find it selling for a reasonable amount if not the cheapest price on the net, not necessarily any more.

Do I still buy from them?...of course, but I do a better job of looking at other retailers before I click add to cart now.

oh... i was more looking at wattage tho.

The PSU's i listed have been tested to put out more wattage then what spec demands.

I know PCnC 750 can put out almost 800+W PEAK when needed. The Antec is raited at 1000W according to jonnyguru. he gave it a 9.5

Anyhow, with 4 raptors, 2 7900GTX, and a quadcore overclocked, my APC reports about 500W draw at peak. Just something you should be aware of.

I am having a problem with both of mine. Right now I have had an EEU at 3072 (using OCZ 600 that Duvie had on his quad@3.3) and the Other is fighting to get stable over 3.1 using a Fortron 700. I think these late batches are in the 3 to 3.2 range. capable. My temps aren;t the problem, and I am swapping 4 different kinds of ram ALL tested on other boxes stable, and it makes a difference, but again... I am fighting to stay over 3.1 with TWO different setups.

mark, what board are you using? Also you need to set the FSB voltage to near max settings, and bump the NB voltage up as well. Try to near max voltage on chipset and fsb, and then scale them down slowly to see if you can hold that overclock.

I havent seen a Quad that couldnt do 375fsb, yet. That should be around 3.375 GHZ. Also what voltage are you pushing on the quads, and when i ask for voltage, i dont mean what you set it in bios, but what PC Health monitor in BIOS is reporting.

I have one at 8x385 (pc 6400) and the voltages are the same as when it was running 7x475 (3072) Motherboard Gigabyte DS3 (p965)
The other is running PC 8000, and it makes a significant performance difference, so I am running 7x440 at the moment. Motherboard ASUS P5K. On this one I am having problems maintaining the vcore. I have it set to 1.475 in bios, and now under full load, sometimes it drops to 1.312, but usually 1.328 or 1.320.

Yea, I check ZZF & Mwave before pulling the trigger with Newegg. I'm adding TankGuys to the list. Just confirmed, there will be no price gouging when they get G0's in stock. Good people there...

Not yet but going to call them now per their response.

"The G0 stepping will not be available until the end of this month. We are taking preorders, please call us and we'll be glad to place the order. "

Just called and $305 with free shipping end of this month very beginning of next month. I am going to hold off as I want to see what the price does.

Q6600s are back in stock @ Mwave for 279usd for those interested. Even with shipping you should pay less than 300usd.
