I'm starting to get fed up with newegg all together. They tried to charge me 12 bucks to ship my two whole heavy sticks of ram via express saver. Keep in mind that I'm in Oregon also. A whole freaking state away.... Found it at outpost.com for 9 bucks cheaper a stick and they only charged me 4 bucks or so for shipping. I don't really order anything from newegg anymore. You can find it cheaper through a vendor that's still reputable nine times out of ten from what I've seen lately.
Newegg's prices aren't the best anymore and their shipping can suck, but I still look at them first because their RMA process is great. When my GF2 blew a cap 11 months after I bought it, they took it back and gave me a refund with no hassle at all.

I also live in Hawaii. Locally, we only have Compusa and small retailers. Compusa is good once in awhile after rebates. The local retailer that gets a lot of attention is Byteware.net but their prices are outrageous and I don't see why they still are in business.
That being said...Newegg is the best for prices. Even when calculating in the shipping by FedEx, it beats local prices. Shipping anything heavy and bulky like a case is going to cost too much to ship and call it a "Hot deal" but it still beats local pricing or matches it. I can't find any other company that can match Newegg prices and provide Newegg's exceptional customer service. I can't believe someone can slam them without giving a better alternative.
If you live in Hawaii Zugzwang152 then you know we always get burned on shipping..it the way of life for living in paradise.
Shopping goes something like this...in Hawaii
Compusa.
Wait for good deals on Harddrives, CDRW, DVD, Routers, and occasionally cases.
Amazon.com
Buy scanners, sometimes cases, and other bigger item when on sale and free supersaver shipping. Yes even Hawaii gets discounted on shipping.
Newegg
Just about everything that doesn't weigh alot like cases.
University of Hawaii Bookstore
Most Software (I know students only but I sure you can think it through)
Costco
Sometimes software, USB Cables, and whatever else happens to be a good deal and in stock.

USPS Priority is the best bang for your buck. It takes around 3-5 days instead of 2-3, but is still relatively cheap.
and for all you fscking naysayers, take a look here.

I think so many people said otherwise because UPS doesen't offer Ground to Hawaii.

Are we talking price or proving the point on ground shipping.
Ground shipping to Hawaii is still outrageous. I think FedEx 2nd day isn't much different than ground for Hawaii.
FEDEX Ground Rate Hawaii/Alaska
Even for a company as good as Newegg, I bet they don't want the customer service problems associated with packages not guranteed for 5-7 days delivery. Tracking is better with FedEx rather than USPS for no additional charge.
As far as USPS Priority. Assuming a 20lb package.
FedEx is $41.48
USPS Prioity Mail (Zone 8 which is Hawaii) delivery is $36.40.
At smaller weights then the difference is greater which means cheaper with USPS. We are talking heavy computer cases though ....right?

hawaii is a fabulous place to visit. but live? if you come from a big city like me (san diego), there are two types of people that decide to live there.
group 1 loves the laid back lifestyle, easy living, beautiful scenery, waves, beaches.
group 2, like me, get island fever. the closest big city is a 5 hour flight away. my sister lives out on oahu and i couldn't stand more than a month. i'm not a beach person (although i do appreciate beautiful scenery) and more of a "let's go out drinking/clubbing" type person.
back to the topic at hand, what most of you fail to realize is that Fedex Ground doesn't mean it's going on the ground literally. it just means that they can take longer to deliver your stuff.
