I'm looking to upgrade to windows XP pro.....i'm still using 95 but it says for the OEM version i have to buy it with hardware, can that be an IDE cable or does it have to be a complete system? OEM is 60 bucks cheaper than retail

I bought XP pro OEM from them and din't purchase any additional hardware. However, Newegg sent a small SATA power adapter cable with it. I was wondering why the hell i got the cable and i realized yeah thats the piece of hardware.

I don't know, I still run Windows 3.11 for Workgroups on some machines. It does what I need and I don't need anything more fancy than that, and I am certainly not incompetent with computers. The same reason some cable companies still use Commodore Amigas to run their TV listings or how some space shuttles' onboard computers use computing power equivalent to an Apple IIgs; quite an archaic system, but it still serves its function.

I think it's a great comparison. How can any corperation(NASA) that considers itself high-tech be using hardware and systems more than 20 years old? Why? Because those systems take care of all the jobs that need to be done. For this reason Windows 95 still meets my criteria for what i need. And i never claimed to be computer competent. so blow me.

That is hilarious. I just heard about this from a Microsoft spokesman at the AMD Tech Tour. I mean, they know this underhandedness goes on. It's hilarious. They said that the "hardware" can be 50 cents worth.

i'm using OS/2 WARP 4

runs surprisingly well

i can't wait for that multiple OS at once technology to come out.

What are you planning to run XP Pro on? if you're still using win95 is the system capable of handling XP?

Btw, there's nothing at all wrong with using every OS license you've got,if it does the job you need it for it's just good fiscal sense.
