Mine just came in today, definitely Tbred B!

Top line is AXDA1700DUT3C then some more stuff...
bottom line is JIUHB then some more stuff...

This is the first time I've gotten a Tbred B and I was surprised to see the lack of text on top of the die. On every AMD chip I've had in the past, there's been some sort of text on top of the chip die that always gets engraved into the bottom of my heat sinks, this one is flat except for the little "code-picture thingie" (you know, the little square that looks like a maze, probably something equivalent to a small barcode).

With Barton's release imminent (supposedly!) I would hope to see all XP prices coming down within the next 3 weeks!! Hope...

My Celery 1.7 boxed fan runs at 3600rpm.
The HSF I ordered for my XP1700+ (Glacialtech) runs at 2800rpm, it was $12 shipped from newegg.

We'll see which is quieter.

I just got my 2 CPU's, HSF, and a Shuttle AK32A mobo today! Newegg is FAST, I just ordered before noon on Monday and it got to SW Missouri on Wednesday.
My Glacialtech 2410 fan is quiet, it actually runs @ 3100rpm or so. I think it's at least as quiet as the Celeron 1.7 fan. At any rate, the fan on my Geforce256 is louder. I have a Glacialtech 2410 Pro HSF in my other machine (4800rpm fan) and it's LOUD, but the non-Pro is definitely quiet.

Both my XP1700+'s are JIUHB and run 133x12.5 with no problems (1.67GHz, XP2000+). For the person who asked earlier: They are NOT multiplier locked!
One was green, the other was brown, but the color doesn't seem to matter because they both OC. The brown one seems to run about 10-degrees cooler at 30C, but that might not mean anything since it's in the bigger case with the 4800rpm fan.

Unfortunately, the AK32A maxes out at a 12.5 multiplier. If I go to 166FSB, will that overclock my PCI? That's the only reason I haven't tried 166MHz yet.

i wanna get it lower...will a g68-69+panaflo24cfm do me any good?..like lower my temps plus dB?
thanks

You have: XP 1600+ = Palomino = 0.18 micron
Newegg selling: XP 1700+ = Thoroughbred = 0.13 micron
The smaller die of Thoroughbred produces less heat than Palomino!

Little warning is in order.
Since SVC seems to have new owners, they are NOT shipping the same SVC GC68 that they used too!
The ones I just got are not nearly as good as the old ones.
Now I see that they have a "better" unit called SVC GC69, which looks like what they used to call the GC68.
Price is $10, but it is still worth it. If you plan on overclocking skip the "new" GC68 and get the SVC GC69.

The GC68's I recieved a few days ago are the same as the last 2 batches I ordered. The only difference I see it the center clip slot is a hair wider so the clip doesn't catch the fins. A few I recieved a few months ago weren't as polished as usual but were perfectly acceptable. Wazzup with yours?

This sure is the truth! Went from a Palmino that consistantly ran at 42C idle (45C load) to this Tbred at 34C idle (36C load), which happens to be the same temp my mobo reports at idle! Oh, this is just with an old SK-800 with a TT Smartfan 2 on top of it, nothing special.

Time to see how high this baby goes before I crash and burn...
:p

EDIT: Just bumped it from 11x to 12.5x (200MHz higher) and it now idles at 35C, load at 37C.
This is badass!!

price went up. :(

About the svc gc68 4.99. I happened to order from them again a few days ago. Came yesteresday (also the B 1700+ :))
and Its again with the box with SVC (not the galaxy brand , but i think they are the same.) have a mirror finish, better than the galaxy one i used to get. (The galaxy at first is mirror finish, then go bad.)
So YMMV. Had not fire the fan up yet...

To about 1.8-1.9 GHz. With a significant voltage increase. Not a bad chip. It will have significant heat increase at that while it is fairly cool at the default.

Just don't put that GC68 crap on it. Use Thermalright heatsink like SK-7.

Yeah that is scary. I thought they did away with all those rev A chips a long time ago. This is the first report of a Rev a chip being received. :( I hope mines is a Tbred-B. Also I like to mention that the Rev A Tbreds isn't such a good chip because it's die surface area is a bit smaller then the rev b resulting in high operating temps.

Is this really true? How far will they drop? I finally figured out a way I could get the XP2100+ TBred B, A7N8X and 512MB PC2700 inside my budget :D Should I hold out a little longer? I really need a second machine for some testing that I plan to do and 3 weeks is probably too long. If the prices won't drop more than $5 - $10 I guess I would go ahead and buy it now, but I would really hate to buy the 2100 for $95 only to see it for $70-75 2 weeks from now

There is another thread about SVC:
"SVC celebrating the takeover of SVC.com with HOT deals"

Got mine from SVC.com website.
Both heatsink and fan are different now than previous.
Have placed orders for 6 several times over the past year or so, and all those were the good ones.
Old box that SVC GC68's came in were labled Galaxy Cooler GC118.
New box label reads SVC GC68.

Doesn't it seem odd to anyone that they now have a "better" GC69 that looks identical?
They never had the GC69 before.
The new GC69 is what they used to sell as GC68.
Temps are about 5c higher with the "new" GC68 compared to old.
The should have kept the GC68 the way it was, and raised it's price, which at $10 is still the best deal.
And the newer unit they now call GC68 should have been called GC67 economy or something.

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed when I received the revised GC68 this past summer, but it works OK on a non-overclocked 1600+. All I can think of, is that the quality differs with each shipment so they decided to create another model for the good ones. I say why not? The GC"69" is still worth a measly $10! It also comes with a more attractive fan.

It's ridiculous. Marketting different items with the same model number defeats the purpose of having a model number itself. I have already ordered GC69 from them. I would not have done that if I knew it before. I would rather avoid such merchants.

Um - Nope, not the first "A" report. I reported receiving two 'A's" on the front page of the thread. People ordering before me (earlier in the day last Friday) and later than me (early evening last Friday) reported receiving "B's" so it almost seems like they came across a box of "A's" right in the middle of filling orders.

Well... then either the person I spoke to at SVC lied or really didn't know that the GC68 has changed...

Anyway, how can you tell the difference? Does getting one in a Galaxy box mean it's the original GC68?

Eventhough its a Tbred A. I was able to O/C to a 1673mhz = XP2000+. Running at vcore 1.65, 11.5 x 147. :) No much but better then nothing.

I just got an XP1700+ I ordered last weekend from NewEgg, and it's also a T-Bred "A"! I have to admit I was disappointed after all the hoopla....

I figured I'd try it out, and it's running at 1917Mhz (166.7x11.5, 1.65volts), so I guess I can't complain...

Just for info, the code is: AIUGA 0247MPM
