Because nobody knows the specs of this thing, so nobody can say it's a bad choice or a great choice in name?
Only the Apple fanboys want to start the attacks without anything.

Maybe it has an HDMI out, and can do 720p? The Zune 80/120 has component video out, so not much of a stretch to imagine they'll continue in that progress...

It's not just market share, or that a device *may* be as good. When Zune was playing catch up with their iPod Classic analogues, Apple was busy readying the iPhone -- a device which surpassed anything on the PMP market by a light years.

By the photos, the Zune HD looks like Microsoft's iPod Touch analogue. We'll give Microsoft kudos when they can innovate at the scale Apple does it. Adding FM radio and "squirting" pales in comparison to the innovation the iPhone and iPod Touch to brought to the market. Somehow, I doubt the Zune HD will be a game changer, but let's wait and see.

You say the Touch isn't worth the price, I paid $299 when it came out, and I'm able to fucking VNC into my PC and control my desktop from anywhere I want. I've never seen another device that fits in my pocket that can do that. Not to mention it does it very well. For Beatmaker alone my Touch is worth MORE than what Apple sells them for IMHO. I use it to make beats comparable to what can be done on a PC + Reason - which is $500 all by itself. I would pay 2x what it costs due to the apps I use that actually lead to me making money.

I have clients and when they have PC issues, I'm able to VNC in away from home, anywhere I'm at with my iPhone (or even Touch) it's wonderful to be able to fix something while I'm out and not have to run home just to connect to make one small system change. I'll bet money right now this currently non existent Zune HD will NEVER be able to do that. This Zune will never be anything more than a device playing catch up. And by the time it's ALMOST caught up to the Touch/iPhone Apple will have their next gen product out. And the cycle will start all over again.

Touch best device ever, period (first and only Apple product I've ever owned)

remote desktop has been on my winmo phone(treo 750) for a while now. i can do exactly what you are describing. and have been able to for a while now. if someone actually bought a beat you made with a phone i say they are a sucker.

I can do it on my Touch, not a phone. I should have made that more clear, there isn't another PMP that can function as a VNC. As for the sucker comment, Beatmaker supports 24bit 48khz samples. In the right hands it can do 95% of what Reason or any sequencer can do. If they're a sucker for spending $20 on a beat that could potential lead to them making a ton of money. I guess they are *shrug*
