New York to Get Pummeled by Huge Hurricane. Do You Feel Bad for Them?

New Yorkers are always just sit back apathetically and watch when the rest of the United States gets hit by natural disasters. I remember when Hurricane Katrina decimated New Orleans, Jon Stewart was joking about how the people in New Orleans were standing on their roof tops, desperate for help. Let's see how funny it is when it happens to you.

i love in new york and i couldn't care less about the people in NYC

but then again i don't really care about anyone, anywhere

Don't you read? They've already been devastated by an earthquake. Have a heart...

lol "devastated." It barely did any damage at all to New York. Oh, that's right, New Yorkers aren't used to experiencing natural disasters.

*the earthquake causes someone's latte to tip over and spill*

"This is devastating!"

It's going to be a Cat 1, hardly devastating....that said, NYC could fuck up a wet dream. Hunkering down, hoping for the best.

this is simply part of the season back in hurricane land, and yet it's all over the fucking place 24/7 right now because mayor Bloomburg seems to need to hold a press conference every hour about this impending disaster that will destroy his city?

wtf--if it does make landfall at any time before crossing up to VA, it will most likely lose half of its power, unless it blows back out to sea for miles and makes some miraculous turn back up the coast.

thousands are evacuating OBX today, yet all we ever see is Bloomburg the Hurricane expert.

lol.

Obviously you don't understand why a Cat 1 or 2 in New York would be equal to or worse than a Cat 4 in many other states...

It's New Yorker's fault that they chose not to prepare at all. The whole attitude of "oh it will never happen to us." Never say never.

I remember Carlos Mencia laughing at the hurricane Katrina victims. He said something like, "They deserved it because they are a bowl surrounded by soup! dedede!" Oh yeah, well I could just as easily say that New Yorkers deserved it because they made absolutely no effort to prepare. dedede! Oh, it's not funny when it happens to New York, yet they laugh when it happens to New Orleans? Why should anyone care what happens to New York, when they don't care about what happens to the rest of the United States?

lol. We have mandatory evacuation here in NYC now. I live about 200 feet from a Zone A area. I hope the rain washes away all the pieces of shit that live down the hill from me.

Christ, some of you guys act like NYC is another country. We should all care if a hurricane fucks up any part of the country.

What do you mean? It's not the fault of anyone other than the ones that constructed in the land decades ago that the city is so vulnerable. Even if the people prepare with lots of food and supplies that won't change the fact that because of the way the city is made and how constructions were built around it that it would cause a huge part to be flooded and many building windows to be shattered, causing an even bigger infrastructural problem.

Agreed.

To the rest of ya,

Just because we don't experience hurricanes doesn't mean we're assholes or "didn't prepare." Why didn't we prepare? Because we never fucking get them.

Why do Californians shake off earthquakes like they're nothing? They're used to them. Why do Floridians not care as much as us regarding the hurricane? Because they're used to them.

Don't badmouth NYC because we're "unprepared." Stop being so narrow minded and have some concern for your follow man.

I'd like to see you handle a few feet of snow in a couple of hours. Some Californians act like it's the end of the world when the temperature drops below 60.

Whereas it might be a cat 1, with 50 to 60 mph winds, the taller buildings will see much higher winds the higher up. Likewise, the venturi effect of the wind pushng between the tall buildings will cause much faster winds. Personally, let NY get pushed into the Atlantic. I'll be the first to give them the NY salute! It could really be very dangerous for New Yorkers. I'll be rooting for the Irene.

We have an office in Overland Park. I guess I understand why you're jealous of us NYC'ers.

😀

Nice going.

OP, did NYC touch you when you were a little boy? Seems you have some serious hate for the Big Apple...

Or do you not like apples?
