why should the police be exempt? if anything they should have to comply with the law just as everyone else does.

The standard argument is that otherwise cops will be out-gunned by the criminals.

Evidently for non-cops criminals will obey the stricter magazine laws, because the only other explanation would be that Those Who Govern don't give a flying weasel fuck about anyone who is not one of them.

It's a popular mindset these days.

Personally I think everyone who isn't a mental defective or a felon should own at least a pump action shotgun.

If the cops need more capacity to not be outgunned by the criminals, so do the home-owners and CCWers of that state.

I honestly hope they pass a police exemption, if just to show everyone that their true motives are control and disarmament, rather than anyone's safety.

"out-gunned" is an interesting argument, why can't the cops carry more clips like others will be mandated to do by this law.

I really don't get the whole "it is ok for the massess but not public servants" piece.

It would be one thing if they were talking about the National Guard or the Armed Forces, but IMHO police officers should be held to the same laws when it comes to firearms and knives that the regular public is.

Just try getting mags now. Last I looked, I couldn't find any 15 rd. Glock 22 mags.

Saw some on a site, similar to Gun Broker (sorry, can't remember the name now), where folks sell privately to others (firearms sold via FFL holders). Glock 22 15-round mags were going for $60, plus shipping, EACH. The only mags I saw on eBay were 10-round mags, and even those are going for $30-ish.

But if you stop and think about it, it makes sense to do this, in a perverse way. One of two things is going to happen, likely pretty soon:
1. Extended capacity mags will be outlawed. No biggy, these guys already sold theirs.
2. Extended capacity mags will NOT be outlawed, which will cause the buying spree to slow down, and availability & price will go back down. Meanwhile, they sold theirs for twice as much as they were worth, and now can buy twice as many as they had before! :whiste:
