I don't know why I still bother buying pc games. Might be my system but stuttering every so often in cut scenes, jerky mouse, sensitivity is all over the place, popping textures, and I am just talking of the prologue mission inside the aircraft.

Just played the first hour. I like it a lot. Shadow Warrior was my favorite game last year and this one feels very similar.

I'm not getting any of the performance issues playing with the PC in my signature. I have SLI enabled. I haven't tried it disabled to see how much benefit I'm getting.

Smooth as silk on 1080p high settings and v-sync disabled.

It seems to be an AMD specific issue. I suspect in the coming days AMD will release a beta drive that fixes it.

Yeah , pretty badass so far . What an intense story line and jammin soundtrack so far. I have been missing the id style FPS for awhile. Some of the items to find are pretty darn hidden.

Not in Wolfenstein, anyway. The way I understand it, the benefit of megatexturing is that it allows artists more creative freedom to make unique and nuanced video game environments with less repetition and more variety. RAGE, as mediocre as it was, used that freedom pretty well IMO. Better than Wolfenstein.

That's not to say Wolfenstein is a bad looking game, because it's certainly not... I think it looks great. Rather, I just don't see how it facilitates the need for megatextures. But then again I'm not one of the developers behind the game and I don't really know any of the details.

I honestly didn't think RAGE's textures were anything special either. Having a sharp building in the background wasn't worth blurry up-close textures.

RAGE runs way better with max textures than New Order does with low.

Loving it so far. Stopped at the point where I had to make my first "choice". Going to have by sons help decide which direction to go in tonight. :)

TotalBiscuit has a go about the options and badly merged settings and issues with performance and controls and such. Then he basically just calls the game silly.

I watch the podcasts that he does on Tuesdays, and he stated on it that he really likes the game. As someone else said, him calling it "silly" isn't meant to be a bad thing. It's "silly" in the same way that he considers Yaiba a silly game, which he also liked that game for its crazy, fun nature.

Right, he calls the game silly in the idea that you can soak a 100 rounds from a submachine gun, then eat a cookie and be fine. He also says that the game is just plain fun and he intends to finish it. Which is saying something from someone that reviews games for a living.

So overall anyone that's played this, is it worth buying?

If you're not squeemish about paying full price, I would say hell yes. I am nearly 4 hours into it and having a great time.

It isn't anything groundbreaking but it does everything well. The stealth system (completely optional) is something that I didn't expect and find myself using it more than run-and-gun. At times, it almost feels like a Wolfenstein version of Dishonored. I guess that is the Bethesda influence.

Graphically, it is not Crysis 3 but it does look very good. If you run AMD hardware, you may want to wait for a driver update.

Sound, music, voice acting and story-line are all excellent.

I'm having a weird issue with object pop in. I'm also seeing the texture pop in, but not much of it.

Otherwise game does seem to run well at 1080p with most settings at medium and the Reflections off. No AA and 8xAF forced in the NVidia driver.

For $60 it's a "on the fence" purchase. Not having Multiplayer and some annoying bugs really hurt the game, and I feel it would be a great/easy sell at $30 or even $40. $60 for this game however screams "buy me because I'm a new flashy game". I found a lot of the cinematics cheesy and cliche. For example, the "DONT BE SAD I LEARNED TO FLY" line was so cringingly cheesy I had to pause and laugh with a friend whom was watching. Other bugs include terrain you could go through, some bugs with stealth, and buggy AI. I've seen the AI get stuck dancing back and forth several times, as well as finding exploits out via the stealth system. If you back into a corner and crouch, guards don't notice you even up-close, at least on the second to hardest difficulty. The objectives could also flash after a while of the player not noticing them. A few times I've had to look really hard in terms of what I should be doing; it would have been nice for the game to just point it out to the player after a few minutes of being lost on objectives, or atleast replay the audio directions for the objectives. Luckily I had a friend over and most of the time we'd figure it out together (almost always was cutting chains that I'd miss).

Another thing that is mildly annoying is how erratic the game plays at times. When I first started I had the game dialed in for my rig and above 60 fps. By the third level I had to lower settings as randomly it would start chugging, sometimes fixing itself when I'd reload the graphics settings. For reference, I use 16gb DDR3 1600, I7 2600k@ 4.4ghz, and a GTX 580 OC'd on water.

TLDR: Buy it for $30-40, or play it via sharing on steam. I personally don't think the game is worth $60. Single player only, slightly cheesy "already been done before" shooter.

Things I liked: Knife kill animations, the whole level scares like giant robotic dogs biting at you as you round corners, etc. It's like someone mentioned above: you can feel the dishonored stylings throughout the game, such as the large focus on stealth. I did entire levels in stealth.

when does the prologue end. I played last night and the prologue just keeps going and going. I am at the point where they have to climb a building to get to Deathshand or whatever the villain's name is.

I'm seeing a lot of "12 hours or less" to complete to the game, so I'll wait until the price drops significantly.

Now, if only some mod team would make a MP game for this, like Splash Damage did for ET. Come to think of it, I'm surprised SD hasn't been involved... people still play ET to this day.

I'm on chapter 8. I think this is the best story telling and funniest of any "id" game ever.

How is the difficulty?, I find the "normal" mode in most single player fps to be a little to easy.

You'd most likely find "normal" mode to be pretty easy in this game then. I'd recommend bumping it up a notch.

Hmmm. Don't think I want to drop $60 on it, but when it drops to 30 in a few months I'll probably snag it. Or maybe on the Steam summer sale.

lol, you probably have another 30 minutes or so. I didn't even realize I was in the Prologue until the end of it. I was like "WTF? I just finished the prologue? This game is going to last forever". Not that that's a bad thing.

I've heard it can take up to 20 if you look for all the secrets.

Love the price vs hours arguement. It makes so much sense.

I'm about 2 hours into Wolf and am loving it. Kind of surprising how good it feels and plays.
