If I cant pronouce the acronym as a resonable sounding "word" then I spell it out.

S-A-T-A, A-T-O-T...

That one kills me. I've heard one person pronounce SATA as SAY-TA. I always just say Serial A-T-A.

That one kills me. I've heard one person pronounce SATA as SAY-TA. I always just say Serial A-T-A.

FAQ = "FAK"

and I say SAY-TA, who cares... people know what i'm talking about... just like SCSI is "skuzzy". Do you go around saying "Small Computer Systems Interface"?

I do say Skuzzy actually. Its just that in my area everyone has always said SATA as S-A-T-A oddly enough. I have never heard SAY-TA in person ever. Sometimes, I will say Serial A-T-A.

I say "scuzzy", but SCSI has been around a lot longer than Serial ATA. I tried "SAY-TA" on some people and they definitely go "huh?"

edit:

Kind of makes me want to smack whoever started writing SATA in the first place as if Serial ATA was really all that long. Besides. Is there any other way to pronounce SCSI than "scuzzy"? What if someone pronounced SATA "SAT-TA" instead of "SAY-TA"? Why not just say Serial-A-T-A and avoid confusion?
