New used car; 2008 Ford focus ses

Bought this a couple days ago; thanks to many Anand Members! We started with a honda civic and toyota corolla to a ford focus!
The focus is down right awesome. For the price I paid, not even my step mom's 2009 x5 has all the features. Sure I don't have leather or heated seats but I also paid 68000 less; with probably the same amount of leg room too.

Pros
SYNC- gotta say this is where the car shines; its amazing at recognizing what I say
Gas Mileage - I've averaged around 36 highway and 28 city. Not bad, especially when my old focus could barely hit 24 city and 30 high way.
Cabin quietness - The engine isn't loud at all, sounds like clean power; gets up and go for a 4 cyl. Also powertrain has a 5 year warranty!
Ambient lighting - This was a surprise for me. I had no idea what the button did but at night everything lit up any color (out of 7) I chose. Pretty sweet, the cup holders and the floor lit up.
Remote start - Its a nice feature, I can see it useful in the winter but right now its more a bonus than anything.
Bluetooth etc etc etc, I like the integrated dash with the radio.
Heat mirrors and quick warm up (compared to my 2003).
instrument cluster has reverse lighting; pretty awesome but i've seen better ( 07 odyssey)

Cons:
No trunk button! Only on the key fob (odd that ford over looked such a traditional feature)
Gas pedal has a good amount of vibration (is there a fix to this) Heard it was a common issue
Seats are a bit stiff
Steering is a bit stiff
Someone smoked in my car previously! I spent the past two days using baking soda and some spray foam and finally got the smell out.
No outdoor temperature gauge
Limited bluetooth phone support.
The dealer sticker window said 6 cd changer (I did not get the 6 cd changer : / but a single)
Limited leg room in the back, actually barely leg room in the back seat.

If you guys don't know my area for the car market place is very limited in pricing and options. A honda civic 2008 base model would have been the same price. Even for styling I would have chosen the focus over the civic.

Overall i'm pretty happy with my purchase; was about 13.5k out the door; priced at 12k originally. Financed 6.5k and paid 7k down. Has everything but leather seats and abs i think.

If you guys want pictures I can put them up but I figured its just a econobox so nothing special.

Going to get the keypad for the driver door in case I ever lock my keys in the car (about 80).

Go back to the dealer and demand them to give you the 6CD deck, or cash for a comparable aftermarket deck. You paid for a car with features clearly stated on the sticker.

Do you think I have a case. I didn't notice that feature until after I bought the car, the sticker is in my glove box. I was reading over it and it says 6 cd changer!

It wasn't the MSRP sticker but a sticker they typed up with the feature set list for my car. It was probably a typo but still. They don't use the MSRP stickers since they don't like showing the price on the lot. So they use their own typed sticker etc etc etc....

Yay, I have an '08 Focus Coupe S model, stripped 🙂 So we have a good spectrum of Foci representing in here 😛

I am using Mobil 1 Supersyn 5w20 and Mobil 1 filters, getting ready to get some Autolite 103 plugs.

weren't you telling me not to get a focus? haha wrong person maybe
and do you think I have a case against the cd changer? Or should I just leave it be?

Dude even the stock non-sync stereo in the '08+ Focus will play MP3 cds, which means 700mb of music (4-6 hours typically, and you can browse folders) on one disc. Who needs 6 discs? 🙂

Plus you have SYNC right?

You could fight it, but multi-disc setups are super old school.

Yeah but if he had a changer he could have 6x MP3 CDs!

Although if OP listens to CDs much he should just get a small MP3 player, it should have AUX in in the center console 😉

Eh, its the principle dammit!!

Oh once I learned about sync, i brought my ipod back from the grave. Haha I'm back into putting music on it just because of this system. Had to buy a compatible phone, razr2 v9; if anyone has one let me know, I might snag another

Why is the mazda 3 rated so much better than the focus? I thought they both had the same power plant. I was about to test drive a mazda3 but couldn't find one as loaded as the focus.

That looks like the stock 6-disc in-dash setup to me... Have you tried loading more than one disc? The process is to hit the "load" button then select the slot number (e.g. "Load" then "1" to load a disc to slot 1, "Load" then "2" to load a disc to slot 2, etc).

Mazda 3 is two platform generations ahead of the US spec Focus. Ford has continually upgraded the platform but US spec cars have not received the updates. That will change for 2011 though.

Yeah i've tried; it said slot is full. Only one cd is in there. Also I've been wanting to put my 10" sub in this car. I love the stock radio so thats not going. Could I just tap into one of the speakers for my amp? Sounds like it would work right?

Would it be a bad idea to start using synthetic? it only has 20k miles on it

Does it matter which speaker I tap into?
Oh duh just tap in at the stock radio in the back.

nvm....

Well, if you car has rear deck speakers that would be the easiest place to tap into. 99% of the time you can get to the wiring in the trunk.

Eh, still seems unncessary. Before I get flamed, I do run synthetic in my turbo motors but aside from extending time between oil changes and don't really see why its recommended for "normal" cars. All in the marketing I guess....
