Yes please, I've looking at 7950's and 4GB 670s (hoping for price redux).

If you're an overclocker (and obviously you are), you'll like the 7950 more. Given that it's on average $70 cheaper than the 670 and comes with Crysis/Bioshock, it's a pretty clear choice.

I would not recommend the GTX670 4GB - it's slower than the 2GB model in just about every test HardOCP could come up with, even in SLI/Surround: http://hardocp.com/article/2013/01/14/asus_geforce_gtx_670_directcu_ii_4gb_sli_review/

The 7950 is the GTX470 of this generation. It's your card.

Yes I fully agree. I've liked AMD on the hardware side much more this generation. The only reason I've considered the 4GB 670 is because of Skyrim, I don't think I would be happy with 750mb more vram.

So what settings/preset to bench and compare?
Extreme @ 1600x900 or 1080p?

I really think it's easiest if everyone just uses the extreme preset - that's why it's there. But most people here are doing a custom 1080p benchmark, which is fine as long as you check all the same boxes.

Hmmm...that does seem a bit odd. Maybe do a 1080p extreme fullscreen run so you can compare it to a few more benches in this thread. Have you noticed any issues in other programs?

Maybe also try it at stock to make sure it wasn't just a bad overclock.

Based on the scores others have posted in this thread, you should be above 40fps in the 900p test and in the mid-30s in the 1080p test, and it seems you're 20% below that.

Have you noticed slower than expected performance in any games? How about 3dMark11 or the new 3dMark Fire Strike? There might be a simple answer, so if you're not having trouble otherwise, no reason to worry too much about it.

WTF is up then?
I don't really care for benchmarks normally but this one is odd...
All my games run perfectly, no hiccups, stutter, glitchs and at high FPS.

Funboy, what card and what clocks?
And BTW my Quality was set on Ultra not High...so i'll run the test again at High and compare oranges with oranges...

Gigabyte 7970 at stock 1ghz speeds. I did the ultra and only lost 3 fps, Ill run it again at ultra for you if you want to see.

Well you have a 7970 and I have a 7950 so I can't compare my score to yours. No need to run the test but thanks.

Did it on High Quality and got to 892, avg. FPS at 35.4, Low 18.9 and High 70.2.

Anyways, the card runs great where it matters so i'll leave it at that.

Make sure you haven't forced some AA or other setting in CCC.
Right click on CCC icon in taskbar.
scroll up to 1. 7950
Then to 3D settings
Standard settings
Make sure Optimal or high performance is checked, this should reset all settings if any were changed globally.

Thanks for the heads-up on Valley.

For some reason my screenshot key (F12) works with Valley, but stopped working for Heaven. Ahhh well.

A couple of Valley 1.0 Extreme HD runs...

GTX670@1084/6000 (reference clocks):

valley670reference.jpg

GTX670@1215/6800:

valley670.jpg

Valley 1.0 looks less impressive than Heaven. It's also less taxing on my system.

But Balla is right - it scales like a bat out of hell - it's actually 1:1 with core/memory overclocks. I have a 13% OC on both - and that's exactly how it scaled. I've never seen anything like that before.

Damn again...
ExtremeHD
1080p
1100/1400

Only 1207
FPS: 28.8
MIN: 14.7
MAX: 50.1

I'm done with synthetic benchmarks...I barely beat a GTX 470 for F sakes!!!!

BTW, on what value did you set Tesselation on Heaven 4.0? Extreme or lower?

The Extreme preset defaults to EXTREME tessellation.

Your system is broked, you should spend some quality time figuring that out. You should at the very least be close to the 670.

Clock for clock you should be less than 10% behind that 7970.

What are good scores for my syste, with 3DMark 11 Basic edition?
I ran all demos and would like to know what score to compare to in Ice Storm, Cloud Gate and Fire strike. Tests were run on default demo settings.
