New System Build

I know you all must get like a million of these posts a day, but if some people could comment it would be great. I am but a poor college student, so my build needs to be on a budget, but reliable.

Here it is, desc, price, and Newegg product number. Price at bottom (total) is actual prices with shipping.

Thanks...

So how is that for a complete computer ( the box anyways, I already have good speakers, monitor, keyboard, mouse... ) ? Pretty good price or not...

I assume your over clocking, but its a bad idea to go for a 50 dollar Heatsink/fan with a mostly crappy PSU, i'll post a new egg better one..

XClio is sourced from Channel Well, as is Antec. The Antec linked has 2x80mm fans. That's actually a disadvantage to PSUs, as the second fan helps very little, makes more noise, and doubles the chance for a fan to fail ^^

Here's a quick snippet if you don't want to read through the above review of some tests they did:

Coolmax Taurus 450w PSU readings ? Idle:

12v ? 12.21v - 101.75%
5v ? 5.00v - 100%
3.3v ? 3.41v - 102.4%

Coolmax Taurus 450w PSU readings ? Load:

12v ? 11.90v - 99.2%
5v ? 4.78v - 95.6%
3.3v ? 3.22v - 97.6%

Antec True Power 430w PSU readings - Idle:
12v - 11.67 ? 97.25%
5v - 4.89 ? 97.8%
3.3v - 3.20 ? 96.97%

Antec True Power 430w PSU readings - Load:

12v - 11.61 - 96.75%
5v - 4.82 ? 96.4%
3.3v - 3.17 - 96%

That's exactly why I jumped on this Coolmax, it has a 120mm fan. Much quieter, as well as having 3 variable fan speed settings. Can you comment on why you don't like the Coolmax ribbon? Is it simply because you haven't heard of them?

with a 120mm cooling solution? ^^ You need to ask? Comparable to Seasonic.

I don't have any experience with Coolmax's PSUs, but the XClio has a lot more 12v power to offer, and the one I got is very nice... its rated for 100mv ripple but reads at 35mv ^^

Alright those sound like good changes.

After replacing the RAM and the PSU with Corsair and XCilio, how's it looking?
What about the heatsink? It looks good, keeps my friends similar setup really cool... I could just get a Zalman but I'm afraid it will crack the core of the DTR chip because the zalman is so damned heavy.

How much better is the Corsair then the Kingston? They look identical to me looking at the specs.

EDIT: Yes I do plan on overclocking some 🙂

I have used Cosair and Kingston, they both have great memory, great customer service, and some of the best value ram, even with overclocking the FSB.

Ribbon, if you check out the Hotdeals forum, their is a bit of a price war on memory going on with 3 or 4 companies, New egg Zip zoom fly monarch etc.

For the Heatsink I would recommend(i think its the best other than the xp120, plus it uses a 92mm, so its still quiet-ish) the : http://xoxide.com/thermalright-xp-90-cpu-cooler.html , its supposed to work with all K8(754 boards) BUT it says 'AMD: Athlon64 FX 3200+ (socket 939/940) /Athlon64 3200+ (socket 754) and above' could be limited experience but, what difference does the 3000+ and the 3200+ have that would justify it not working
