Dude, don't take this the wrong way but what are you really trying to accomplish here? You have a perfectly acceptable opinion in that you personally feel that 2D Mario (and perhaps the Mario Bros. universe in general) is "played out" for the lack of a better term. What I'm not sure on what you expected to get out of repeatedly bashing the game (and people who enjoyed it) in the review thread here. Did you expect everyone to come out and brofist and trade stories about how dated Mario is? It's a critically acclaimed title (and universe), so the overwhelming majority of people are going to feel otherwise (again stressing that no one is really right or wrong here, just trends). I mean I personally haven't found any of the Halo games to be all that enjoyable but I know I'm in the minority there and don't feel the need to go troll up threads about it.
Don't bother trying to talk sense. It's much more fun to make nonsensical comments and see him get up in arms about how he's defending his viewpoint/logic and how you're a fanboy and a troll.
I already knew he had nothing constructive to say when he entered a Super Mario Review Thread about IGN's review and his take was:
Because I am having a discussion about the state of Mario franchise which I started playing in 1985. My argument is it's stale, too old, and overuses certain things. What's your argument?
He didn't mention if he ever played the game(s), from the Wii, DS, 3DS, and now the Wii-U. How can you review or express dissapointment in a game you've never played? You can certainly express disinterest, but what is the point of doing so?
I stay out of CoD threads because I have no interest in them, but by his logic, I'd show up in each one and express my dissapointment of how first person shooters have adopted the Madden-type business model, where mod tools are no longer released and how the fanbase used to keep games alive by creating their own mods and maps but now with the advent of DLC, publishers/devs nickel and dime you to death for stuff that used to be free so now a game no longer costs just $50 but is rather a $59.95 initial investment and $29.99 installments every 3 months for tiny map packs or game modes that probably should have come with the game in the first place.
Do I do that? Nah. Because I'm not an imbicile.
