New Steam profile and trading cards, oh my!

I rarely check my inventory but sometimes I do find coupons there.

Have one now - and noticed a couple of duplicate cards also.

75% off lunar flight.

Anyone want it?

You are grandfathered in if you owned TF2 before it went F2P or you bought something in the Mann Co store before the cards started. What you quoted is for everyone else.

I got all my TF2 cards and I got it with the Orange Box and never spent a penny in the Mann Co store (actually haven't played the game in years besides to get these cards).

The same thing applies for DOTA 2, if you purchased something before the card beta started you were grandfathered in and were able to receive the max number of card drops. I purchased items in the DOTA 2 store before the card beta and was able to get all my DOTA 2 card drops.
 
made badge 4m dota2 cards, got tidehunter background which is ok, but got coupon for a sad game which has metascore of 58 and this coupon is valid till 11th of this month.
y only 1 week for coupon and there is no sell option on it.
got bloodseeker emtion which is also uslesss

i'm only kind of joking...the trading card thing is pretty cool...i'm just too much of a loser and don't have enough friends to trade to finish sets. not sure i care enough to complete a set maybe other than borderlands or portal2. cool way to get a few dollars tho.

If it's worth a few clicks to you, you can sell the background and emoticon on the market. You'll get pennies, but it's something.

No idea why that is. The latest batch of games that got cards yesterday I had 3/5 games and I left them all idle and got all my cards for them.
 
So this card market is interesting. I knew that Valve did the trading card thing to generate more revenue.....but I didn't realize the publishers/developers were in on it too.

For each transaction in the market:

10% goes to the publisher/developer
5% goes to Steam

From what I've read, the developers are responsible for the trading cards. So all the people bitching at Steam to make Skyrim a trading card game should be bitching at Bethesda instead.

If all of this is already known to you, sorry for wasting pixels. It was all new to me (which shows how closely I pay attention).

That's what I would have thought Valve would do, but it doesn't seem to be the case. What I quoted is what is showing up for me on Steam.

What I think might be happening is that you're limited on how many cards you get per week. I got all 5 TF2 cards in like an hour of playing, but I haven't gotten ANY cards for ANY of my other games since then...weird.

I'm telling you how it is. Believe me or not I do not care. There is some bug or something you have if you are not getting any card drops from other games.

yeah, i think you have a bug. I played 5 different games last night and got cards for all of them. i got well over 5 cards all at once. however, my daughter was playing The Binding of Isaac for well over an hour and no cards dropped for her. Seems to be a bug.
 
I haven't gotten any drops since the first day, so it's not just him. I played Trine 2 and got a card right away, and then none for 3-4 hours. None for 9 hours of FTL, and a few other games nothing either.

I was not in offline mode.

I got 3 bl2 cards a few days ago, and havent gotten anything since for HL2, and cs:go (which I had to install). Haven't tried dota yet, probably wont bother now.
 
Finally!!!! No card drop bug is fixed. After couple days of no drops in Dota, Alan Wake, Pyschonauts... I was beginning to worry. Apparently bug only affected those not in the beta. Just glad steam fixed it :biggrin:
 
Just got a "Mystery Card" when crafting a level 3 CS:GO badge...

This card is very mysterious. Very, very mysterious. The kind of mysterious card you might want to hold on to.

Edit: Just got another one. They were given in place of coupons, so I guess it will have to do with discounts during the summer sale or something like that.
