It's hard to tell but it doesn't look like they spend much time with/on the Enterprise itself which I find disappointing but on a positive note the lens flare seems toned down a little

Sadly it seems the future is entirely colored in blue and orange (occasionally a tiny hint of red)

I'll still go see it though

Once you get past the fact that it is in now way (aside from character names and a few visuals; ships, Star Fleet, etc) like the original Star Trek, and accept it for that, it looks to be epic.

Not sure about there choice for the villain, though; his acting looks to come across strong in the trailers.

Looks pretty fucking awesome. I loved the other one; thought they made a pretty damn good movie in its own right without shitting on the previous Star Trek stuff (that was good, at least...fuck the newer stuff that's not TNG). And the way it was integrated into the universe was simple but kinda brilliant (
re: time travel/alternate timeline
).

I dunno how Chris Pine is gonna hold up as Kirk. He does the part really well, but he lacks...something. Maturity, maybe...we're further along in time, but you can't really distinguish 'Captain Kirk' from 'Starfleet Academy Kirk.' Karl Urban seems closer to the 'right' age for the cast...I think that might be what seems weird; some of the actors seem to be in what felt like the common age range among the original ST cast. Some of them seem a lot younger.

It's got MFKN Robocop in it, it can't fail.

Is it just me or does it feel a bit Star Wars-y?

Trailer looked decent, but why do they always gotta blow up the Enterprise?

Looks like it'll actually be worse than Abram's first Star Trek movie. :(

For the love of crumb cake, someone stop this guy before he completely wrecks the Star Trek franchise. It can't take much more after Braga and Berman.

At the very least, the trailer gives one hope for how the upcoming Star Wars films will turn out. :p

The upshot is that Abrams will almost certainly descend into madness while directing the next Star Wars movies, leaving somebody else to take the helm on the 3rd Trek.

If you really didn't know who he is, go watch Sherlock on Netflix right now.

I honestly don't have any familiarity with that name. And I'm less than interested in that TV show (you're talking about that 'modern Sherlock Holmes' show, right?). But I'll take your word on the guy being good.

Is that his normal voice I'm hearing in the trailer? Good lord, he sounds like Barry White or something. That is slightly odd.

He's a British actor who's starting to get more mainstream roles. The Sherlock series is only six, two hour long episodes, but they are making more. It is a modern version of Sherlock Holmes but it's very good. It's not the CBS "Elementary" series if you're thinking about that. He does have a very interesting voice, but I think they both lowered his pitch and he tried to mask the British accent a bit, so it comes off a bit strange.

...I was thinking of the CBS thing. And trying not to outright say that it seemed retarded. LOL.

I'll give the other series a look.

(also I guess the voice thing is just common when Brits do 'American' accents. Best example is, of course, Hugh Laurie, who sounds like Mary fucking Poppins when he's not being 'House' :awe: )
