Thank goodness! I was worried that voyager would be the end and I'd have to wait for some motion picture to see anything new!

I've enjoyed TOS, TNG, and Voyager... but wasn't too thrilled with DS9 until near the end.

Can't wait to hear more about what we'll be seeing... let me know if you dig up any more dirt.

They need more 7of9's, more pimped starships, more phaser + hand2hand combat, etc.

Or some really cool transporter malfunctions wherein the uniforms get beamed up but....

Well, you get the idea.

They need to bring back real science fiction novelists to write the scripts, just so that they once again include that revolutionary feature which has been missing for the last 10 years: THE PLOT!

They need to make it with a little less "Happy Go Lucky" attitude. Just darken it up a bit.

am i the only person who hopes it's *NOT* an early federation series?

The whole fun of star trek is not knowing how it's going to end. With that series concept, you *know* it's going to end ok..

"oh my.. the fledgling federation is threatened by an enemy so powerful, it might not make it past next week...tune in to find out!!!!"

I loved the original series, and I love TNG too. Voyager was great for the first few seasons until it pretty much dropped off. I was never a big DS9 fan. I'm hoping that the next series will bring me back to the ST world. :)

It will be the Vulcan version of Coronation Street, with all the green bloods meeting at the local mind-meld pub to talk about their sordid lives in monotonal sentences while Pon farr will strike a different male every 3 weeks.

I hope it is true Sci-Fi Star Trek fashion, has a plot, and that the details fit with the history of every other show...

A good idea for the next movie would be the next enterprise hunting down voyager using new high speed warp technology or something.. hehe

EDIT: Ultimate deep space adventure

Only trek series I didn't like was Deep Space 9. Voyager I've missed because I don't get UPN :frown:

I'm curious to know what the story behind the new one might be.

Voyager could've worked if they weren't so damned happy all the time. The purpose of being lost in space with seemingly no hope is the struggle, the difficulty, the trouble. Voyager could've been something, but it lost it :(

They should bring back TNG!!! maybe? no? :(

DS9 mostly sucked until the Dominion War stuff. Voyager as some good episodes (Anything borg) but... quit making alliances and show some tactical skill!

all they have to freakin' do is put reruns of old TNG episodes on tv, and I'd be happy. so would a lot of other people. that show was soooo freakin' good, and they refuse to put it in syndication. meanwhile voyager is on every time i turn on the tv. PUKE! i want quality characters, not "take old characters and make them black for a new twist" characters!

ds9 had its moments though. It was a little dull sometimes but it also had some awesome battle scenes.

Babylon5 beat out all the Start Treks except TNG IMHO. Star Trek the original series was good, but it's 40 years old. DS9 was boring, and Voyager wouldn't have made it this far if not for 7of9.

<< but Next Generation is still the overall best >>

without a doubt in my mind. the ones coming after TNG was written up my hollywood slash, burn, flash writers, not true novelist nor futurist.

Hope this is even close to the content quality of TNG.

I'm with dennilfloss, BEAM US UP THE PLOT!

<< It was [DS9] a little dull sometimes but it also had some awesome battle scenes. >>

And therein lies the gag: I wasn't a big DS9 follower but apparently there was a war involving the dominion, federation, klingon empire...anyway I saw a massive battle scene with heavy cruisers and dreadnaughts all flying like fighters dancing and weaving, galaxy class starships dropping like flies, yadaa yadda yadda. If that's what "awesome battle scenes" are then extract my brain and fill it will silocone and be done with it. :p

EDIT: actually one "plotless" variant would be acceptable. The premise would be Jerry Ryan and Terry Farell's characters both exploring every Class-M planet in the galaxy in a quest to find the one with the best hot tubs. You know the kind of quest where the journey is more rewarding than the climax. :)
