I am so sick of prequel ******. Star trek is about exploring the unknown, by making it a prequal and being "canon" as he suggests then there is no danger to the major characters that we care about, so we automatically know that any life and death situations they will make it through.

damn right! i am sick of this prequel sh|t as well! This is why Enterprise (the series) was a flop and this is gonna destroy this movie as well!

Who would wants to see the young kirk & spock with the "old" technology. Give me something new. Up the ante and gives me a planet size starship that will wipe out a star system in one shot. That would teaches those SW nerds a lesson. :p

I agree. Prequel crap has got to go, at least, in cases where it focuses on characters that the audience knows cannot die or be harmed.

After Voyager the Federation has some technology from the future. I really wanted to see what happened going forward as a result of that. Or what about the easing of relations with the Romulans from Nemesis?

This isn't a new idea, they've been kicking this script around for like 10-15 years now.

Yeah, it probably won't be as good, but they can't use the old crew and they've managed to alienate the fans with the storylines they've done with the new crew (Generations and First Contact were the only good ones) and there isn't a snowballs' chance in hell of them doing a movie with DS9, Voyager or Quantum Trek / Star Leap and friends.

Sad as it makes me to say it, cause Trek really kicked ass back in the day they probably do need to let it die, or at least go to sleep for a decade or 2.

**PS**

But if they make the prequel, I am still gonna see it.

It has since been confirmed that Matt Damon is not going to play Kirk. As for Ben Afleck, I certainly hope not *shudders at the thought*

Sean Maher would do OK as Spock, not sure if he's tall enough.

Wouldn't be his first time in Sci Fi, he was good on Firefly / Serenity.

Why would it have to be the size of a planet. The sun crusher was as small or smaller than a runabout.

Yea, whilst i actually thought enterprise was good, they can't do another prequel. I want something set after Voyager or a one off with the existing ships + crew or something, First Contact was an amazing film.. I wont be seeing this one..

I would definitely pay to see this movie if they somehow ( not with CG ) got Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner to play young Spock and Kirk. Given the chance I bet Shatner would jump at the opportunity. Maybe they can even use the corpses of Bones and Scotty. Pure Awesomeness.

Hmm ... no sign of Berman or Braga anywhere. I wonder what that means.

Forget this, I want to see some Timothy Zahn books done as movies.

Grand Admiral Thrawn, now that's a villian!

This thread is about Star Trek, not Star Wars.
