It looks ok but that could be due to getting tired of spiderman movies since there have been so many.

Ugh...they went all "Emo Twilight" on Peter Parker.

Hope it's good, but he annoys me already. That's why I liked Toby Maguire so much. He was very nerdy and understated.

They have so many damn interesting villains, is it gonna be that stupid Green Goblin again?

Well it's sort of like a reboot, starting at the beginning.

But not perfectly from the beginning, kind of drawing things from different points in the early years of the story.

He was a high-school kid, one that wasn't exactly a stud or a Type A personality/attitude (but the spider brought about traits of that sort, to a degree).

It seems to be a more refined "angst", definitely not like that glitter-fest of sappy emo shit.
Hopefully, if there are sequels, we witness maturation.

It looks better than the previous incarnations - hopefully they take a better direction.

Interesting seeing The Lizard first (but makes sense, can't make it seem like a reboot that's also simply a remake)... hopefully the team behind this one doesn't have such a strange aversion to Venom like the previous asshats.

Not in spiderman 3. They turned him into some fruity emo punk kid that couldn't quite pull off the look. That was a mess.

This one looks a bit better and the more serious tones help allieviate his 'emo-ness'

It appears to be the Lizard which should be pretty good if they don't make up an entirely new storyline for it.

Well that does look better than anything else I've seen about the "reboot" to date.

I wasn't really seeing why there was a need/desire to reboot a pretty recent franchise but this does look much better than the steaming pile that Spider-Man 3 was.

holy crap this version of spiderman looks amazing

in just this short trailer we already see quite a bit of character depth and development as we're seeing the side to Peter Parker that was mostly just glossed over in the Rami trilogy, in that Peter is supposed to be a genius, not just some average nerd

I just hope Denis Leary doesn't ruin the movie for me, I can't stand that d-bag.

At least Emma Stone as Gwen Stacey might be able to make up for that, finally a true hottie for Parker like its supposed to be.

lol, this parker doesn't appear to be emo at all

emo is a downy attitude, this Parker has that perfect flair of sarcasm and wit that all the best comics and particularly the 90s cartoon had.

just from the trailer it already sounds pretty canon, where Dr. Curt Connors hints that he and Peter's father were on to something that would change the lives of millions, including his (and we do see a shot that looks like he is missing an arm). And if his character is missing an arm like in past versions of Spiderman we can infer the whole DNA therapy to regrow limbs that goes wrong and turns him to The Lizard.

Oh man... Gwen Stacy ...

You know what that means for the third movie or so...

Sony sure got cheap with this one. I hear they're only paying the lead 500k. That's pretty embarrassing for the title role in a summer blockbuster, everyone else must be working for a sammich. I guess they figure there's bound to be hardly known actors some place some where out there willing to work for a song they're so desperate to get their careers off the ground.

Don't people consider Spider-Man 2 the best one out of the previous trilogy? The majority of Spider-Man 2 had Peter in a depressed (dare I say, emo?) state because of his inability to balance his normal life with his Spider-Man "duty". Octavius wasn't really even the bad guy in #2... I'd argue that was Peter himself. Especially since
Octavius was being influenced by the AI, and after breaking free, he ends up killing himself at the end to save everyone
.

EDIT:

Sounds to me like Andy Garfield needs a new agent. He already had some credibility after being in The Social Network as a relatively major character.

Might have gave him part of the profits too.

lol.

They're trying to make Spiderman more like Batman.

This is really dumb. It is going to flop so hard. The special effects aren't even impressive, so obviously CGI.

Spiderman is all about humor and being a wise-ass. This spiderman is creepy.

THAT'S the vibe I was getting. I guess emo wasn't the best description. He seems to have a "'I'm going to rape you when I get a chance" thing about him.

Like I said, I hope it's good because I love Spiderman, but I'm not comfortable with this guy. Maybe it was just the way the trailer was edited.

This is ridiculous.

I am a bit opposed to the idea of a reboot though. Doesn't seem like that long ago that Spider Man III was out... Would rather have seen them continue w\ the old cast and explore interesting story lines.

So his spider web shooters are not biological anymore?

Different spin offs ended up w\ the stuff coming out of his hand/wrist... but I believe that originally some contraption was used to shoot the stuff.
