except for no fan on the drives, as falloutboy pointed out....

ok... so seeing how tall it is with the psu at the top and that the motherboard is flipped upside-down.... how are you supposed to make the ATX 12pin/20pin cable reach the motherboard ... which would prob be near the bottom of the case?

Even at over $150. they still don't get it totally right... Not bad but no cigar! Some definitely won't like the vertical hard drive bays and it looks like the only cooling on the HDs is the PSU intake - I could have done better in my sleep. I'd have to see it up close and personal to decide on the looks, but just
from the photos, it looks kind of bland. I still like the design of the Berserker better.

Silverstone points out on their website that the case design uses a bottom-mount power supply fan to suck air across the hard drives, but I'm not sure that's enough air movement -- plus it pushes already warm/hot air through the power supply.

It's a beautiful case (especially the bezel), but personally, I would have liked to have seen in-out fans for each of their three purported cooling zones. I also doubt the "wind tunnel" will accomodate my Thermalright 948 and 92mm fan.

I have 2 beefs with that case.. the pop out blocker panels (OMGWTF those things SUCK) and the fact it's silver aluminum, and no door... what color drives to put in there? nothing would match.

otherwise looks kinda neat.... probably a tad cheap, (pop out panels anyone?) but OK I guess.

Any further info on this case? Anyone have one? I am considering using this for my *hopefully soon* ASUS A8N build with an OCZ 520 powerstream PSU. Any known problems with using larger PSUs in that tube?

Looks like a copy of a Lian Li midtower, but that's OK. I need to ponder this some more.

One problem I would have is that in the "BTX-orientation" of the ATX mobo, my VGA cooler would lose its effectiveness.

But basically, the simple, ducted CPU and mobo cooling solution is a real plus.

I don't think it would be a problem using a couple flimsy sheet-metal brackets to hang a low-noise 92mm fan under that drive cage to augment the airflow that the PSU intake fan misses. IN FACT, you could use a stock Intel CPU cooler fan -- dremel a couple small notches to fit the plastic fan tabs so that it just clips on -- making fan removal for hard drive access and screw-removal very easy. You could even put two of those stock intel cooler fans underneath . . .

It's ok.

I love the looks of the G5 case. Does anyone make a case that looks like the G5 case?

Lian-Li comes close with their V1000 and V2000 cases...

I have yet to completely understand the cultural phenomenon, but it is harmless, artsy, fun and a lot of people "get off" on it.

Personally, why would you want to look at a bunch of circuit-cards and fans? Why would you replace a material that acts as a heat-sink with something that is less so? Why would you replace a material that you can use with noise-deadening foam padding, with a material which has its main purpose obstructed by the padding?

There are all kinds of reasons why Lexan windows "don't make it", just like "Brown shoes".

On the other hand, with this old case mod I have, it doesn't have sliding side-panels -- it has a U-shaped shroud, so you have to remove the whole thing to gain access. A vision is taking shape in my mind which involves a bolt-on Lexan window that can be easily removed for access when I need to -- without pulling the computer out from under the desk, removing the entire case shroud, and going through the reverse procedure to put it back together.

Frankly, if I'm gonna drop a big chunk of change on a rig, I'd prefer it have a little rice. Nothing like the Xaser cases (which freak me out), but something tasteful, like the Tsunami Dream. A subtle blue on silver is quite classy, in my opinion. And the beauty of computer parts is sublime. It takes a certain person to appreciate the look of a bunch of silicon-on-insulator, but I guess other people like to look at engines on cars like I like to look at the insides of a computer. So as longs as it's tasteful, even artistic, I don't mind side windows.

I can relate to that, slash. There are just some utilitarian considerations that give me second thoughts. My main concern is getting the thing to work properly -- optimally. The glitz can follow.

As to "rice". Somebody is going to antagonize people like me, whose first "new" car was a Honda Civic 1200. That car lasted 18 years before I got rear-ended by some bimbo in an SUV listening to a boom-box and looking at people in the other lane. (I was at a dead-stop in traffic-jam, fer Chrissake!!) By that time, it had Accord Mag wheels, Accord brakes, and a 5-speed Accord tranny. The morning it happened, I was sailing down the highway to school so I could teach my class, thinking that it would last another ten years -- maybe longer -- how every mechanical part had been lovingly refurbished, maintained, tuned, and cared for. And I was thinking to myself -- "This sucker is almost about to become airborne!!"

For 1,600 lbs, that was a "muscle car". And the paint-job!! Talk about "rice" -- Caribbean Red.

My apologies to everyone for suggesting that the Silverstone in this thread is close enough to the Lian Li V1x00 cases to be a "clone" of it. I thought for sure that Lian Li had a model with the straight-through clear-Lexan cooling duct for mobo components and CPU, but I can't find it.

A person just can't keep all these details in his head without making a few errors.

There's a review of it posted at SilentPCReview.com. They seem to like it.

There's a new Chenbro Gaming Bomb ("Gaming Bomb 2" or something like that) that will be released quite soon. It's a very close copy of the G5 and apparently is pretty well done. I think it's supposed to be available before CES.

Thanks for the links to the TJ06 reviews. It apears that the stock 80mm fan is extremely noisy according the reviewers. What do people suggest for a decent replacement? I would like to order it along with the case. Also, the reviews indicate that a good potential PSU would be one with multiple fans and/or a large 120mm fan. I was planning to get the OCZ Powerstream 520. I know the OCZModStream has a 120mm fan, but could not tell if the Powerstream did. Anyone know?
