Meh, for that much, i'll stick to my stock cooler.

BFG can't deny replacement on the stock cooler, but they sure can on the aftermarket.

I'm happy with my 400/1100 (havn't tried higher).

So the only cooler with the forced fan control to create no noise is the ATI 4 series for the X800 series. I like being able to control WHAT fan speed I want. Looks like its a X800XT PE with ATI 4 series cooler for me for some nice silence :)

I know for a fact the new ATI Rev 4 Silencers for the X800 are thermally controlled with no hi/low switch and they are noticeably louder even on the lowest thermal setting than the Rev 3 on low. That's the main reason I purchased an X800 Pro VIVO as I had heard that the X800 XT PE layout doesn't allow the Rev 3s to fit. A simply BIOS flash later I have an XT PE with a silent Rev 3 cooling system.

Bar how do you know for a fact? I'm interested in knowing, because all the websites I have seen show the ATI Version 4 silencer for X800 series with a 5v and 12v description under there fan speed, the rest of the silencers show a fixed rpm speed for there descriptions.

Because I've used one. Check any of the reviews of the HIS IceQ II X800s and you'll see.

Don't blame Newegg that the price is $54.99. Blame your fellow gamers that are paying that much for them and driving up the price.

Those Excalibur ones have been out for awhile. Maybe these retail ati rev 4 ones for the X800 have the switch?

if it doesnt cool the ram then why does the pic on newegg have spots for the ram? and why does the review that chopsitck posted show a better memory overclock?

im confused, anyone actually seen on of these?

These do have memory coolers on them. I just purchased one here. 6800 Silencer They just had them in stock this morning.

Ok, so you have one already or its coming in the mail? cause even the link you have there says
Ram cooling : NO

If it cools the ram on my 6800GT I'll order one right now, the stock XFX cooler kinda sucks.

Yes it does cool the ram. Some fellas at Guru3d.com has pics on the XFX. Here you go Link

Yesterday these were listed for 39.99 w/ 5 dollars shipping on Newegg. Today, the price jumped to 42.99 and 6 dollars for shipping. What is up with newegg lately, they seem to be charging shipping for everything now. Equally important I do not kno why newegg would charge over the msrp. Sure, it might be supply and demand, but Newegg used to have the best prices around the web. Nowadays, their prices fluctuate everyday. I think ill buy from zipzoomfly or even directron from now on.

Still, they are a quality shop, and their RMA policy is great.

I'm noticing at newegg, though, that more and more motherboards are becoming return only...no refunds. That's a pretty big annoyance for people who get a board, read the manual or otherwise discover that some part of the board isn't compatible with the rest of their system. Or maybe the board gave them problems and they don't want to deal with the same make or model. Those people are now stuck.

I strongly agree. Alot of products on newegg is either "exhange for the exact same item only, " or no refunds. In addition, newegg changed their rma process. Before they would send you the item and you just put ur cc number down. My friend rma'ed a mobo a few days ago and they told him to send the board in first.

newegg has never done cross-shipments. i've shopped with them for years, and even rma'd stuff. i either had to send the rma item back first, or pay for the new one and wait for a credit when they received my return.

that being said, i haven't bought anything from them in awhile as their pricing doesn't seem to be as competetive as they used to be (at least in the items i've been interested in), and their shipping had gone up - with alot less "free fed ex saver" accompanying their products.

and then there's the active gouging they've been participating in.....

I can verify that since I own MSI 6800GT. The card is very silent even after hours of play at Ultra levels and o/c's beyond that.
