Eighteen new candidates meet up with Donald Trump in a New York City airport to be divided into teams and set out on their first mission. After preliminary details, the task, to market Sam's Club using massive blimps, is revealed. Later, the winners are treated to a glimpse of life as a billionaire, and the losers are sent to the boardroom, where the first candidate is fired.

shows you how much IQ means. for someone who seems to be so proud of his IQ, didn't really show much smarts did he.
the CLEAR argument here was, HEY, we sold FORTY memberships. we lost by THREE. in other words, they weren't OUTCLASSED they only lost by a small amount so don't argue big points, argue the small points, particularly that girl didn't make the phone calls. there was no other argument necessary.
OBVIOUSLY if they had lost 43 to 20 or something, the PM would be in serious trouble, but if you lose by 3 memberships, the PM didn't screw up, execution was the problem and in this case, that girl NOT making the phone calls was the key problem.

trump has never bought that, he's all about a win is a win
the only time he went ballistic about margin of victory that I remember is the time last season when he fired the four (they dropped sales by 17% and the other group increased by 77%)
tarek did not plan thoroughly his board strategy, he didn't expect to be attacked by the other 3
he's pure sales, he doesn't have the all-around game that you need to be the apprentice

Tarek messed up a number of things:
Very weak promotions he had empty "gift bags" and the blimp saying Sam's was a Big Deal
Too optimistic at the first boardroom when asked how he thought he did. Makes it hard to turn around later and say "So and so didn't do $#^%" when you are all confidence before you know the results. A bit of caution is advised, even if one's team was perfect, the other team might be perfect as well, and get lucky (and thus beat you). You always want to set up some defense as early as possible. That's not to say you're pessimistic about your chances of wining, but you better not be dead certain.
Brought too many people back to the boardroom. Obviously his only "savior" was the nontelemarketing woman, so he should only have brought her back. Nobody has been fired for bringing too few people back, as long as they brought back people that deserved it. Tarek had no solid reasons for bringing Lenny and Lee, other than a mere odds play. And an odds play (where one brings in plenty of innocent bodies hoping one of them catches the bullet) is an insult to the Trumpster. People have been fired for bringing in others that did not deserve it.
Finally, the first mistake Tarek made was to not watch the earlier seasons. If he had, he'd have known better than to make these mistakes.
