Sold my Boxster, and bought a Convertible C5. Crummy picture from the sellers ad, will get some better ones soon.

Loved the Boxster, but since we have a severe lack of curvy roads, the fun of it was lost most days.

If you ever had a day in your life you thought you weren't getting enough attention, you should spend the afternoon in a yellow Corvette. 😉

Not sure I like the C6 wheels on the C5.

With the Z06 vents - I'm thinking Z06 wheels would be a better look. Maybe remove the Z06 vents and it might flow better.

And please take off the aftermarket chrome accent pieces the previous owner tacked on! BLECH!

So is that an aftermarket vert conversion on a real z06 or is it a base vert?

Nice upgrade in performance regardless but bonus points if it's a real C5Z.

I spent an hour after I got it home removing it's Pep Boy's heritage, like the fake Z06 vents, they were stick on. Also removed Smoked front turn signals, smoked taillamps w/ chrome trim bezels, smoked reverse lights, and chrome rear side marker things. Lastly removed some yellow bits from the interior and a carpeted dash cover. I have yet to investigate how the chrome "rollbar" hoops are attached, so they are still there for now.

I'm also not a big fan of the C6 wheels on the car, although they are 1" larger in diameter from the C5 wheels, and they seem to be a bit weird on the offset, sitting inboard just a tad too much, especially on the rear. I will be prowling Craigslist for replacements.

Good job returning it to stock.

I bet if you placed an ad on Craigslist offering a straight across trade for a set of stock C5 wheels/tires you'd get a taker.

But the wheels aren't nearly as offensive as the rest you've already taken care of so I wouldn't be in a big rush personally if the alignment is reasonably well done.

A friend at work got a C5 convertible that looks just like that. I was unimpressed until we were coming into work the same time and his modded exhaust was freaking awesome. His wife made him go back to stock, but I'm still impressed having heard the engine.

EDIT: I mean aside from the extra chrome.

The exhaust was actually one of the selling points for me. It has long tube headers and a Corsa exhaust, it sounds awesome. Pretty quiet if just cruising, but really livens up over 3000 rpm.

It's also one of the few aftermarket exhausts I have been exposed to that has very little cabin resonance, a little when lugging the engine in 6th gear, but beyond that nothing.

Nice. Are these in the lower teens yet?

C5 to me is the bargain sports car without the high cost of upkeep.

Congrats!!!

Yellow Corvette is probably my fav colour in that car as a convertible. Great, amazing choice. Have fun and post more pics.

Btw, whereabouts are you? I am assuming a southern US State, perhaps?

Some high mileage cars are getting to about 15k, this one has 57,000 miles, I gave $18,500 for it. Some guys are still trying to get over 20k for them.

Congrats!!!

Oklahoma, we will still have a couple of months of decent weather.

What year?

And was the Boxster a 2001-2005? If so look here, may be due some money.

Boxster was a 99, no cash for me.

I took a couple of pictures on Saturday. Good friend came by with his Grand National (66,000 miles) so we could track some electrical gremlins on it.

Nice find! I've been keeping an eye on C5 prices. I want one in the worst way. It is one of the few cars that can get away with yellow and look great doing it.

So have I, but it looks like its at its rock bottom price now. Might actually float around going up.

As in beginning of collectible? Hmmm not to sure about rising values for C5's yet. Seems like C4's continue to depreciate. C3's are starting to hit that wall and some starting to rise. Agree that C5's have been holding their values well for the last couple years though. Kinda hope that with the release of the new stingray that will change......

I didn't really consider that until after I had already bought it, so I hope that the value doesn't just plummet.

I was hoping I could own it a year or two, then sell it and get a good chunk of my money back.

Pretty much like I did with the Boxster. Owned it about 18 months and even doing a few things to it, I think I was only 500 or 1000 dollars in the hole.

I wouldn't worry too much. It's a toy after all. When you want a new toy you want it NOW. Enjoy. If the Boxster is any indication you take good care of your vehicles. That usually means you can do well when it comes time to sell.
