crate the dog when you can't supervise him until he gets out of that habit. This coming from a bulldog owner who has two dogs that will chew on anything and everything.

hah, you should see his crate... it's bent up to the point where it can't close. he gets in there and barks his ass off and digs at the bottom and then grabs the bottom of the door and bends it up so he can try to crawl under it.

he's a strong son of a bitch.

If this is happening then the dog is obviously not having his exercise needs met. More walking and/or jogging with the dog everyday.

Edit: Has anyone suggested you read Ceaser Milan's books? He's the Dog Whisperer guy on the National Geographic Channel.

EditRedux: My latest dog is a year old German Shepard pound puppy. He requires probably an hour walking every day and he's gone through 20lbs of rawhide in the 6 months that I've had him. The upside is I've got a great companion and he's never had chewing issues.

You gotta buck up man. That dog needs way more attention than he is getting. Play play play with toys, toss the ball, time on his back with you trimming his nails, doing whatever you want with his feet, wrestling, guided chewing. Getting up every 4 hours and taking him outside, huge celebrations when he potties outside. Come home at noon and do the potty thing. You only get one "now" with a pup, and the time is NOW!
