This is one of those movies where I am going to try and avoid anything on TV. I watched the interview and new trailer and I fear that if aI read/watch too much that the movie will be ruined. So long as the alien creatures don't sparkle, I am good.

What if the alien is actually your dad (space jockey)?

Honestly, I'd have been happy if they had just kept the original trailer and left it at that. It was great and didn't give much away. I also thought the soundtrack to it was phenomenal.

I also feel they gave away too much in the interview. I plan on avoiding any more details as well, and hopefully I'll forget enough about it by the time it comes.

I agree totally.

I've doen this to myself in the past. I usually am happy at hte movie since I spend weeks to months just ignoring media coverage. I don't think we saw enough i nthe new trailer to ruin the movie.

Gets better and better. But I wonder how you CAN NOT call it a prequel to Alien?
Space Jokey (check)
The Alien Space Ship (check)
Bunch of Eggs (check)

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...?

Lulz, all you had to do was read Wiki:
In July 2009 20th Century Fox announced that Jon Spaihts had been hired to write a prequel to Alien, with Scott attached to direct.[83] The script was subsequently re-worked by Scott and Damon Lindelof. Titled Prometheus, it went into production in May 2011, scheduled for theatrical release in June 2012. Scott released a statement: "While Alien was indeed the jumping-off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien's DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative."[84]

I'm so happy to see a major studio putting out hard scifi, as opposed to the usual crap *cough* Transformers *cough*

Alien with fast metabolism and regeneration but living in a extremely resource sparse environment and can instantly bond with any living thing that is sees

Hard scifi

Pick one.

What if:

The Alien/Eggs from the '79 film was created due to a mix of the Space Jockey/Human DNA in the past...

I don't really like movies, but based on the trailers I want to give it 9 on RT.

I think I may already know the plot...

It sounds similar to that of a comic spin off, "Aliens: Apocalypse -The Destroying Angels".

Basically, whatever created the aliens, did so as a means to protect the galaxy form advanced species, kind of an eco-hippies gone batty sort of thing; Every time a civilization reaches space faring status, they, sooner or later, come in contact with a jockey ship that carries xenomorph egs. Then they bring it back on their planet(s), an alien outbreak happens and wipes said civilization off.

The plot form this comic seems consistent with what we've seen in the trailers.
