I hope it's rated R. Why can't they do both. They did it for The King's Speech. It started out as R, but they released a PG-13 version for children.
People under 16 don't receive 'imaginary' information the same way adults do. As such it should be PG-16 and it should replace both R and PG-13

the aliens movies never made sense to me.

1) sleeper ships - don't be surprised when 100's or 1000's of years have gone by

2) surface mining ships -
a) that's not at all how mines work
b) there's nothing of value on the very top
c) there's nothing so valuable as to build a giant, interstellar, vtol strip mine so you can bring back a tiny, tiny, tiny amount of it. remember they are eating rocks right up until takeoff and not refining/extracting anything.
d) the only reason to have people on the ships is so something bad can happen to them.

3) the aliens defy conservation of anything. their incredible metabolism and perpetual drooling are fueled by "terror", and their reproductive methods are absurd.

4) why is everything made of steam and steel grates? not my first choices for spaceship materials.

I haven't been to the theater in at least a decade.

I'll be going for this in imax. I hope it lives up to the darkness and terror that he can deliver.

Live interview with Ridley and the writer happening right now as well as the reveal of a new 2 1/2 minute trailer.

It's over now but they are running replays. The trailer is pretty awesome. You do see the "alien", although it's only hinted at that is what you are seeing and you won't recognize it.

This is one of those movies where I am going to try and avoid anything on TV. I watched the interview and new trailer and I fear that if aI read/watch too much that the movie will be ruined. So long as the alien creatures don't sparkle, I am good.
