Blah. Lost that entire scene I was modeling. Program crashed while saving. Now to start all over again.

I think I need some fast food. Nothing accentuates a night of heavy beer drinking like some fast food.

Noooo! :'(

Shouldn't take too long, actually. Most of the time spent working on it was trying new textures, and camera/render settings. Modeling the room and grass was dead easy, and only takes a few minutes. And the chair was used from a scene I made last summer. So it's mostly just setting up the scene again.

Been working on it for a couple hours today, and I'm pretty much right where I was yesterday.

Kind of glad the first time I ever lose a scene was on a scene that had barely any time spent modeling. I have some scenes that have taken days, possibly weeks to model. I would cry if I lost those.

as in rotating between five files so you have 4 previous versions to go back to.

I usually do. I had just recently reinstalled Windows, and I forgot to go into the prefs on my 3D app and turn on auto backup. Now it automatically writes a backup every 5 minutes, up to 10 copies.

The program I use is so goddamn stable though. In the 5+ years I've been using it, it's never crashed the way it did yesterday. Crashes are very infrequent, and when it does, it automatically saves your scene for you. But the crash I experienced yesterday was strange. Started a render, saved my scene, froze while saving, then got a nasty BSOD, with some wild codes I've never seen before. Tried to load the scene I'd saved, but since it crashed while writing the file, it got corrupted. And since it wasn't a normal crash, the 3D app didn't get to create a scene dump.
