It's S4 pro, not even S600. Looks like the deal was sealed months ago. It is much slower than Tegra 4.

Which is so good that is it has zero design wins to speak of outside the product made by the designer themselves.

If we ignore Asus, Acer, Toshiba, HP, NanoTech... then yes you are right.

Fact is that the next N7 is underpowered. I guess Google expected an earlier launch than end of july.

As the article says, the new Nexus 7 is much thinner- I guess not having enough room for a fan ruled out Tegra 4. ;)

Tegra 4 is 50 - 100% faster than S4Pro. So i really hope for Google that S4Pro uses less power than Tegra 4...

There are two devices. One of them is a slim tablet, the other is a chunky games console with a fan in it. Which do you think uses the most power?

The Snapdragon S4 Pro would be sufficient assuming that it has the same(or higher) clockspeed and somewhat similar resolution to the Nexus 4. Could use a faster one but its fine as its marketed as a budget tablet.

Design wise, it seems a tad bit bland and I don't like the fact that the Nexus logo orientation isn't similar to the first model.

Looking at Exynos 5 octa that is constrained by power, I'm pretty sure S4Pro was a better choice.

It's not only about the CPU. The GPU delivers only 50-66% of the performance of Tegra 4 or Snapdragon 800. It's not able to output 4K. It will be much slower for webbrowsing than other SoCs.

toms hardware says there were 2 SKUs. one with S4, another with S600. either way this should faster than T3

s4 pro is pretty disappointing. the plain ole s4 in my razr m is pretty mediocre, noticeable delay and studder sometimes, and noticeably slower than the omap in my razr, even though its clocked quite a bit higher. so im not so sure this is that great of an upgrade really, if you axed me, ya know, if y'axed me...

Sounds like a software/configuration problem. S4 is substantially faster than OMAP4460.

You're right. Silly not to have 4K output for a 1080p display.

The level of stupidity you display(pun unintended) is staggering.

How much performance do you need in a tablet?! I've not found an app my Galaxy S2 can't run adequately. What apps are people running that require all this power?!
