I guess it's extremely boring compared to a Noble :)

It is. It's well balanced, that's definitely true. However, the limits are soooooooo low. They did this on purpose. They made the limits both in lateral grip and straight line very low so that they're accessable to everyone. Because of this, the car gets boring very very quickly. Sure, it's nice to rent for a weekend, but owning it for more than that would get boring in a hurry.

Heck, even after a full day at the Mazda Zoom-Zoom event it got boring. Even the underpowered RX8 was more fun.

Don't get me wrong. It has a certain charm in that exploring the edges of its performance envelop is doable on a daily basis. It's also great that they balance handling and straight line so well (most cars are heavily biased one direction or another). However, it's like a 600mhz Celeron with 256mb of memory. Sure, processor and memory are matched, but it's kinda slow all around.

Add better tires and stiffin it up a little and that comment goes out the wayside.

With the miata community having a huge aftermarket for that stuff ding ding we have a winner.

Better tires, better shocks, better springs, better strut tower bars, better sway bars, and better bushings. Then, add either turbocharger, supercharger, or an SBC or mustang engine. What do you have? A much nicer car that still has too much weight in the front. :D

It's an awesome base platform for those interested in moding for this budget, no question at all.

Well I'll atleast agree with you. Looks just like any other Miata with the optional removable hardtop to me. I want the non-convertible hardtop that somebody posted pics of a while ago on here. Now that was a sweet looking car.

Windows are tinted now, 35% sides, 20% back. Need new pics

Looks sweet. I'm thinking about sellin my supercharger just so I can afford a hard top.

noooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

I want an mx5... my best bet now is to find an old high mileage 1st gen... keep it stock for auto-x and every so often driving to work... and hope it lasts 5 more years... then work on getting a 2nd gen to supercharge and build for auto-x. i'm not sure how i'm funding this yet though.. haha.

Mine was $3895 w/o the hardtop (got it off ebay for $911, then $250 to have it repainted), 72k miles, (1994), perfect condition. Owned by a college prof that only drove it on nice days, softtop was never even put up while he had it.

It's 100% stock except for the audio that I upgraded. Going to keep it that way. Damn superchargers are over half the price of what I paid for the car :(
