About to start watching Paradise on Hulu. Scrolling by it the last month I thought it was just some sort of political thriller. Which apparently it is but I also just found out that it takes place in a dystopian future. And that makes it interesting, along with the overall reviews. Going to give it a go. Anybody watching this?

Well worth a watch. Now without some problems but some of the greatest "Holy Sh*t" surprises ending episodes. A little slow in spots but not in an overbearing way. Has been renewed for season 2 so there is that. Probably a 7 or 8/10 if you are into it. I have worries that next season may be completetly different going in a different direction.

Came across Creep and Creep 2 on Netflix. Solid "lost footage" type of thriller films. I had never heard of em before.

I made it through 4 episodes last night and goddamn, it's quite good. Good fucking yarn about some of my favorite sci-fi subject - dystopian end of world shit. Usually these shows end with a let down but this is a good ride. It all depends on the season finale.

Just read some good news - White People Watching Lotuses season 3 finale next week will be 90 minutes long. Longest episode of all the seasons so far.

Pretty great Trump-satire Sci-Fi.

Mark Ruffalo was great. Mr. "Why do I resemble a vampire who has not had a feeding for days" was also really good. He is really amazing playing dumb characters. While it's not a must-see, it's better than any random movie you want to watch without knowing anything in advance.

6.5/10 (if you give it any lower, you hate movies hating on Trump :D )

I wonder when this show Paradise was written because it's been giving me strong echoes of the everyday plot and ideas of The silo trilogy, which apple turned into a show a few years ago.

She is a genuinely interesting interviewee:

And genuine being the keyword. She seems like herself. Not like she's been groomed to say the stuff she does but if she has been, she makes it look convincingly like she hasn't been.

Well it's been an eventful weekend.

1. i was persuaded by a friend to go to one of those gastropubs out in the sticks, because they have Tournedos Rossini on the menu. I have not even ever seen a menu with this particular food item on it, so i went, and for £32 they were amazing, if a bit small.
It's a filet mignon with foie gras and trouffle and madeira sauce.

2. Mail.com has completely removed their ... uh .. let me start from the beginning.

In the wild days of the interwebz, when you still had to pay for an email provider (i know, ugh), looking for some free online webmail i found doramail.com which had the most important things i was looking for, it was free, it was email, and it had Doraemon. You can never go wrong with some Doraemon.
It lasted for years - i'm talking, this email i had a 4-character password.
And i used it as my recovery email for quite many a thing where i would never need to recover the email.

Now, a few years back Mail.com bought out a whole bunch of these domains and consolidated them into their mail.com domain, so my email became username@doramail.com@mail.com, which was weird but it still worked, although no more Doraemon copyright-infringing graphics.
And today i found that everything relating to doramail.com has been wiped. There are instructions online how to pull mail from it using IMAP, but those do not work either; it's not the ports, it's the username/password combination that doesn't go through. And since my epic 4-letters password is unforgettable, i am stuck out without a recovery email.

Which is the recovery for my secondary hotmail account.

Which is the recovery email for IMDb.

The problem is that Hotmail really really likes to lock you out of your account recently, for such vile actions as "logging in from another IP", or "using two devices", or "lol we just felt like it idk". Since i updated my windows to W11 i no longer have the password stored for my secondary hotmail login, which i did from another browser because god forbid you have 2 hotmail logins on the same browser.

This means i have lost my IMDb account. Forever. Or idk, until i remember my password, but in the end who cares?

3. i may or may not be buying a house. AMA !

That's the only thing you are worried about? I suppose for movie lists and stuff? There might be secret questions to answer or some other possibility to recover the imdb account. Hotmail may also help you out if you go deep into their support system to be able to lodge a request for account recovery. They will review the data you have provided and if they determine you are the actual owner of the account, you may just get it back.

Did you win a lottery or something? How are you able to afford a house in the UK? Must be in some faraway farming locality.

1. nah. my previous hotmail account was created in those early years when, as a wise man of the 90s i was horrified at the idea of using MY REAL NAME for registering online; i was always mr Fakename Idontexist at bogusmail.com
So their recovery process .. DoB, name of mother, etc all rely on me remembering if i used 01/JAN/1991 for date of birth, or whatnot.
I already did the form and microsoft already said no.

2. you'd be surprised. I found a house in scotland for £25,000.
it's currently tenanted so i have asked for the terms of their lease, if it's a lease i can allow to expire i.e. kick the guy out, then i'm buying it.

Are you going into cattle/sheep farming?
those cost more.

Throughout the UK there is a phenomenon of some areas being abandoned. Everyone wants to live in London, and so house prices plummet. You can buy a nice house for 50/70/100 thousand, in good locations too; well, good locations depending on what kind of a person you are.

this one is half hour walk, or 4 minute drive from a good international airport,
three bedroms, turn-key-ready conditions, £95,000 - with 2 tenants the mortgage pays for itself.
And Paisley is 9 minutes train from the center of Glasgow, takes less by train than it does for someone not living in the center, to go to the center via bus or subway.

Last Breath - 9/10 - very good movie based on a true commercial deep diving accident with Woody Harrelson. Now I wanna go watch the documentary about it. I hadn't heard of the story prior to the movie. As a diver myself (not that kind though, but knowledgable of it), it seemed very authentic.

Holland 7/10

Was kind of to be expected, but movies with Nicole Kidman never dissapoint :
"
A woman's picture-perfect life in quaint Holland, Michigan crumbles, when she and a friend uncover a twisted secret in their midst.
"

Existing city complete with windmills, wooden shoes and tulips and dutch language, right there in the USA. Never knew that.

Randomly encountered a trailer for Murderbot coming out on AppleTV. I am halfway through the books. It's lighthearted and fun sci-fi with an interesting main character. Excited to see what they do with the show. AppleTV has been putting out some bangers in the sci-fi realm.
