We're training Iraqis?

How many have gone thru the full 6-week course? Zero.
How many have been decently trained? 5,000 or so...not the 200k number claimed by Rumsfeld (or was that Cheney?) Doesn't matter...they're both full of sh*t.
And how would Kerry fix this? By 'speeding up the training program'? Yeah, cut the number of weeks of the training to 6 to 4 and of course the numbers will go up. Of course, I believe the number was really 24, but the example still holds.

I actually agree with you.

The larger problem is that the country is presently so lacking in security that police and soldiers in training are easy pickings for all the terrorists who have flocked to Iraq (as witnessed by the hundreds of trainees who have already died this year). The present environment over there is simply not conducive to building a viable defense force, much less any kind of infrastructure.

Whats your suggestion then? We have a lot of people who like to point out problems, and nobody who is willing to go out on the line and say what THEY would do.

We should just pretend we a re winning. Or increase the number of troops and make for a secure Iraq to start training the security forces.

Normally I would be arguing against Crimson, but this is too funny. Check this out.

Dump Bush, try him and the Neocons in the Hague, apologize and pull out. Begin a huge war to solarize and wind mill the nation. Reverse the SC decisions that corporations are people and money is speech.

MB< Kerry is the candidate that has confessed to crimes during war. HE should be tried by the war crimes tribunal. His testimony is on videotape and there are no statute of limitations on war crimes or capital crimes, both of which Kerry ADMITTED/CONFESSED to committing.

Let's get it straight!

In fact, I can't believe the Repubs haven't found a way to get him indicted.

Go for it. With Kerry in jail we can run Dean.

Either you are ignornt or just trolling, I'm not sure which is worse. Maybe you should go back and read the transcripts and figure what he said. Not that it's relavent 30 years later. Hell, Bob Kerry took part in a night raid that killed a small village of non-combatants.

Bob kerry? Maybe it's time you cleared your head before posting again. I have read the transcripts. I have seen the televised testimony before congress. Have you? I say he should be indicted.

He confessed to war crimes and atrocities against human beings. Bush may have failed to meet your standards but he didn't confess to committing unauthorized acts of terror against helpless people.

Maybe that's what the next Lib/dem commercial should say "It takes a terrorist to know one, John Kerry has terrorized villagers in two different foreign countries. He knows how they think because he used to be one."

Is that what you want?

I know it's hopeless and you and the libs are gasping for air as your candidate sinks. Perhaps in '08 there will be more hillar....sorry, more hope.

I'd second that. I think we just better cut our losses and run ASAP. If we send in more troops, they will just recruit more insurgents. It's a no-win situation.

So where did Kerry confess to commiting "unauthorized acts of terror"? He was in a WAR you know, unlike the ChickenHawks who got us into our current mess.

Iraq Reconstruction: How Not To Do It

The Reconstruction's Bottom Line

It's not always what you say that's important, it's who you assign to the job and how hold them accountable.
Agreed, but to assign the job to someone new in good conscience, you must know what their plan of action is and have reasonable expectations of success for their plan. Blindly putting someone in charge without knowing what they plan to do could help, but it could hurt just as easily and just as much.

Can't we all agree to quit talking about Vietnam? Its irrelevance to this election is staggering, yet the most frequently discussed topic. You can compare Iraq to Vietnam or anything else, but who cares what either candidate did during that time period? Just let it go.
