This is an awesome rap CD, it's not that "kill everyone, f*ck bitches and ho's" kind of rap. It's got a deep, struggling to survive sound to it. Reminds me of Talib Kweli and Hitek (who make a cameo on this CD) but has really good beats and really good rhymes.

If you like hip-hop don't miss this CD!!

the bootleg is like 17 or 18 songs long .. the official cd will be 10 songs or so.

i preordered the cd, it's gonna be good. the 'street' version was a good way to deep my feet in the water.

most slept on rap albums lately ..

honestly, i aint really feelin' this album. i like 'get em high' (feat. kweli and common) and 'two words' (feat. mos def), and of course the two singles ('through the wire' and 'slow jamz') and 'all falls down', but i dont really think its the classic everyone is making it seems like it is. i like kanye's production skills like on kweli's 'get by' and alicia keys 'you dont know my name', but as lyricist, i aint feelin' his rhymes. the lyrics are catchy, but after awhile, they become corny. but i admit, i did chuckle at 'oh baby your breath is harsh, cover up your mouth like you got sars'. but, after awhile, the beats get reptitive, the whole gospel/choir hook used a lot, and like i said, he doesnt punch through with his lyrics. so, thats my 2 cents on 'college dropout'.

He also has one of the worst lines I have ever heard.
She got a light-skinned friend look like Michael Jackson

i think the most slept on albums last year imo were: swollen members 'heavy', louis logic 'sin-o-matic', atmosphere 'sevens* travels'.

this year, im liking the new visonaries album. entitled 'pangaea'. track 3, 'strike' is such a hot track.

I totally agree with Atmosphere's album. But uhm, Sevens Travels is his newest album?

Jesus Walks by Kanye West is SWEET, best rap release in quite a while.

The new Twista album is out as well, which features busta ryhmes, Jay-Z and Cee-Loo on some of the songs. Pretty enjoyable cd.

Nothing after that. Add Zion I - Deep Water Slang 2.0 to the list of slept on albums.

The official is 21 tracks deep, BTW.

And yes, this album is the TRUTH.
Kanye is the TRUTH.
I love the whole gospel, sped up vocal sample injected beats, I'll probably get sick of it within the next year, but right now, I'm in love with it. Kanye's rhymes are for the most part innocent, but where he really shines is in charisma. He has a presence about him when he's rapping. Might not be the greatest, but he is better than 99.9% of mainstream rap on the radio.

Actually, there is a lot of incinuation about sex and women, but not really explicit.
I've been bumpin the bootleg since December, I got the bootleg of the retail last week, and I'm going to buy this first thing in the morning. :D

If i had some loot i'd definately pick it up. But after listening thru this CD i gotta say i'm very very pleased to hear some honest hip hop. I love his beats, the ones with guitar in em too (All falls down) , and the lyrics are pretty damn good, skits are funny as fawk too. I give this CD a 5/5 and it's only gonna grow on me. It ain't the greatest CD ever, but definately the freshest in a while

the guitar is from Lauryn Hill - [MTV Unplugged 2.0 (Disc 2) #02] Mystery of Iniquity [5:10] - the bootleg has Lauryn Hill singing the chorus but Kanye couldn't get vocal clearance before the cd release, so he had the retail chick sing in.

So who is Hove talkin' about when he says the 8th wonda's on his way? A person?

No idea, but 9th Wonder, an up and coming producer did "Threat" on the Black Album.

You must be joking.... those two lines are possibly some of the funniest lyrics I've heard all year
